Default What to do

Hi,

New to the site about 5 minutes ago and want to meet people who can help me progress my game.

Been playing 3 years and slightly profitable on SNG's for that time. Recently moved to Cash with good success and managed to triple my account. Generally play 1/2 NLHE. The following happened yesterday and wandering how others would have played it.

Made a profit of 80 to give me 280. Playing tight as there were a couple of very loose players. 1/2 level.

dealt KK on the cut off and raised to 8 (slightly larger i felt might help disguise this). BB just called and he's one of the V.loose players. Pot is 17. Flop was A104. He checked to me and I bet 14. He called and the turn bought 7. He checked to me and i lost my bottle and checked behind. Pot is 45. The river was J making straights possible. He checked and I bet 26 which he called. I lost the oot to JJ. What would you have done on each street.

Thanks.

Looks like no matter what you did , you were toast.
With the Ace overcard and possible flush on the turn, I probably would have checked also - but with possible straight on the river, I probably would have checked the river as well(would have saved some money).
But then again - what do I know?

I agree, you did what did you have to do.
With monday's newspaper knowing he had JJ is easier, but with this A in flop and the flush after the turn the risk was high.

Default to represent or not to represent

hi

as one of the guys said - highsight is a wonderful thing

the easy answer is to say ace on the flop danger danger holding KK
and I dont think you played the hand badly - it looks to me like you spotted all the possible traps

I like that you saw the ace and feared it - but also decided to take a shot at it to see where you stood - his call of your decent bet didnt really help you on the information front ... especially as you had him marked as a loose player (he could have easily flopped two pair -aces and tens)

but I like that you didnt cave and were prepared to find out where you stood

you said yourself you then lost you bottle (I wouldnt be so hard on yourself) you got called and could easily have been well behind on the flop - so checking in behind wasnt a bad move IMHO

but with hindsight another continuation bet would probably have taken the pot - as his reason for the chck as we can all now see was weakness and the same fear as you with that Ace 10 flop

I think you kept the hand as cheap as possible in the middle section - but the only thing I would have done was checked in behind him on the river ...

your hand wasnt strong enough with the full board having so much potential to bet on the river - as your position had got worse not better ...

If he called he definately had you beat (no gain just more loss for that river bet) or if you checked then you would have lost less

so that would be the only thing I would change - rarely on a board like that will you get the best hand to fold

hope thats a help and welcome aboard

cheers scrawnybob

Default only chance

Ur only chance was to represent the ace direktly with more that u do and ur check was ur mistake !
he show u with his check that he have no good hand and u MUST bet hardcore not to much that he dont believe u but many cause ur represent the ace and a tight player so he know ur bet is cause u got the ace and ur not afraid and he is cause he have no set at that moment BUT i cant promise that he fold cause loose players call many and they dont believe the most things so u have hard discissions to make but i think that were ur ONLY CHANCE!
