Default ignore all-in call temptations

hi

I would say that most of the time unless you are holding AA or KK it is best to avoid the temptation to call preflop all-ins

otherwise you are gambling even more than the player who has gone all-in

especially at the early stage of the tournament - It is much better to accumulate chips with minimum danger say risking (with a strong hand) no more than a 1/3rd of your chips

with all-in players at early stages you cant be sure whether they are - making a steal with complete junk, making a steal with moderate hand which could reasonably outdraw you, playing like a complete donkey not trying to steal, having a monster hand and trying to look like a donkey

remember one of the things I often find effective is to play the first 3 hands very loose and possibly quite aggressive - this establishes me as a loose cannon and makes it far more likely the get action early when I have a very stong hand

worth bearing in mind once your out of a tournament ... your out

so if your not controlling the hand and your facing an all-in preflop unless you have AA KK I would fold most all of the time

obviously if you can see cheap or relatively cheap flop compared to the strength of you hand and then improve - you are then in a much better position to win or take the hand down ... building you chips when you're ahead and folding cheaply when your behind

cheers scrawnybob

hi man.

its freerolls you are talking about right?

in anyway, like scrawnybob sais its better to avoid calling an all-in without the AA KK even QQ...

but the truth is, i play some regular tournaments everyday (not freerolls) and the people are gettind to the first break are generally the same people and believe me im saying this, experiencing it for quite a long time as a couple of month.

i mean sure there are always "surprises", but if you consider YOURSELF and trust YOUR personal game, then it really shouldnt be a matter how others play.

you need to concentrate on your own plate buddy, and if you were a good player then you'd see them no more but a "doubling up station" for yourself

my advice: read some material and avoid playing like the people you were talking about

Yeah, because AAs and KKs don't usually find their way to your hand... So the best thing to do is to feel the table - to know what other people have. And then you'll be able to play not only with your cards, but with your opponent's cards.
