This afternoon I was playing in a sit n go on FT, and we were 7 handed. I was dealt 33 UTG and I came in for a raise of 360 (blinds were 40-80). Two seats to my left reraised to 960, leaving him with about 500 chips left. The player to his left typed "This is such a tough fold" right before he folded. I picked up on him having an ace, possibly AK or AQ, and subsequently reraised all-in, figuring if an ace was out of the deck, I was the favorite against AK.
Sure enough, he shows AK and my 33 held up.
My questions are these: How out of line was the player who commented on how tough of a fold it was? and, Did I make the correct assumption?
Not like I'm planning on doing it, but is it actually against the rules to declare your hand?
Or say if you're in a tournament situation and you want a certain player to go out and the flop's A22, would you be frowned upon if you like made a really obvious kind of sigh, signifying you folded a 2, thus trying to entice the other player to make a move and risk his chips?

If you tell the truth about it, yes.

As long as you dont annouce the exact cards you have I think it's ok to say its a tough fold...............

"Talk", trash or otherwise, is a big part of poker in a live setting. "This is a tough fold" is nothing compared to the kind of talk that happens in the live games I've been in. Yes, the rules say you cannot state your exact hand, but you can say just about everything else. Like "I'm folding the best hand." people say that all the time when they're holding 7-2 just to keep you guessing with you.
A player was up against me, he lost a lot of his chips he said fu. i asked r u on tilt? he responded with your giving (a sexual act) to the dealer. had to laugh just another poor looser. I never tell my cards, might say i had a straight, flush etc....... I always auto-muck my cards.
