Now The Moto of 4king is:- Dont get Bitter-Get Better Yes/No---YES
So IMHO any project should have some sort of direction, We have to establish our personal critertia, so I think it may be a good idea to write YOURS in this thread.
My Personal Poker Mission Statement:-
In Live Poker Play I going to SLOW DOWN before I BET, Thinking MORE about what the other players have in there HAND then I BET.
I AM GOING TO SLOWDOWN.
My personal one would be, when I'm losing, take some time away before playing again... Let myself cool down, instead of going on tilt and losing more...
My 2nd one would be to call more small bets, instead of only betting and calling with monsters, start calling on hands when I have a lot of outs, and great odds on my money...

Personal Poker & Poker Webmaster Mission Statements
hi
I would say from a personal poker playing perspective my mission statement is ...
To play as well as I know I can play but all of / most of the time ... and not have lapses into stupid plays that I absolutely know already will end in tears
oh and obviously ... not to get bitter but to get better
also not to play poker when distracted either by work / family or other commitments that will stop me from doing the above effectively
I would say from a webmaster perspective my mission statement would be ...
To run the friendliest poker forum online and provide our members and visitors with the most useful online poker resources, reviews and information - to build a poker business & poker sites that I can be proud of. To serve members and visitors honestly and with integrity & a be a trusted figure people can rely on to help out with any issues.
cheers scrawnybob

This is a good thread and gives all of us a "different" look on why people play poker.
I guess my statement would be as follows.
First and foremost, to learn something every session I play, win or lose if I've leared something that helps me in any way I have won. When the pleasure or fun of playing goes during a session I stop and end for the day (or night) and this rule applies mainly online as I have never felt this way when playing live. To constantly look VFM (value for money) eg. I play many satellite events on sites where even if only 2 play one seat is gtd to a big buyin event at least 10x my buyin.
I always search the adrinalline in a game, the action drives my heart rate up, which gets me all hyper active, and then i want to play more and more hands, looking at the results , winning or lossing it doesnt matter atm , since im a student if i win a little im already happy, if i lose i try to look at the mistakes i made, and what hand i should have played in a key situation , then i focus on the next game to get all the new info i got on how to play better and continue from there, i try to bluf on pots i know i can bluf at with small bets, and bets that look real, and not going 300 , into a 230 pot, i try to make it look im on a hand or have something going by betting 90 or 110 people get more off the hand then when i play it super aggresive .
This all depending if he is not on a draw aswell, on the turn when i have a hand i always make a big bet .
What is your way of play ?
Ofcourse this wont effect your or my game in the future ...

Here's the thing, if you cant spot the sucker the first half hour of the game, you are the sucker.
I'm not good enough to play to win money, and I find that trying to socialize while playing is frustrating (unless in a forum game where socializing is an important part of the experience) and reduces my enjoyment.
I play because I enjoy card games, and poker provides a bit more "bite" because there's money (very little in my case) at stake.
Very Interesting JC I am the opposite I try to CLOSE down my Auto Response system! The opposite too what you do, I try to be a Cybrog with zero emotion and use pure mathematics.
My mission is to play poker for relaxation and not to make money.
Stepping up a few times has been profitable, but I totally enjoy the competition and relaxation of small stakes poker. As soon as I push to higher limits I might as well be at the office.
1. My mission is too win as many tournaments or get as many circus league points as I can in live play, with out playing live ever night, ( I can not aford it ever night)
2. Win enuff bankroll to buy in the EPT in London and play and win that tournament. by 2010.
