Slumping state of mind

I was doing so well and now I'm doing so bad . So I'm almost afraid to play. I think: I just thought I knew what I was doing but really it was all luck. I should just study for a month or two and play nothing but freerolls; or I should not even think about poker for a month and come back with a refreshed brain; or I should take up online Scrabble instead. I just got that slumping state of mind. What to do, what to do?

Unless im in a tournament, and even then sometimes, I try to never play for more than 2.5 hrs at a time winning or losing. I then take at least a half hour break, completely away from the computer. When I get back I usually feel much better and more mentally prepared.

I know how u r feeling....I played at a local crdroom this past weekend...i am going to tell the 3 hands that knocked me out and 1 that i had cracked need some advice....100 buy in tourny....make it through 1st hour increasing stack by 1000....I am sb with 10/10...5 limpers blinds at 100/200....i raise to 1000 tryin ta steal..now realize probably shoulda checked i was outta pos had to act 1st if any callers??? evry1 folds except 6th seat..he calls...flop comes 852 rainbow....i bet out 1000...he comes over top costs me another 1700 ta call will leave me shortstacked....i put him on ace x because of his limp anyhoo he flips queens!!!!!no raise preflop w queens!!!! anyway im shorttsack so i get kj hearts from button 4 limpers i chove 1 caller his 77 held oh well??

I decide to play a 40 sitngo...recognize some weaker players so i decide i will play a tite conservative game....i get dealt poket queens on the button 5 limpers i raise 3 x BB plus the 5 limpers $$ 200 i get 1 caller women in 6th seat...flop comes q k 5 she bets 200 i raise to 600 she calls..turn is a 2c she checks i bet 800 she clls forrest of her $$...we flip she has a7 d blank on riv i win....graet right??? comes around again im on button 1st raises 4x BB folds to me i reraise with ace/ace he reraises me i put the rest of my $$ in which will put him alin...he says and I quote "i know u have aces i call" he flips over kings cacthes a king on turn to win....im still in but down sum$$$..3 hands later i get the rockets again....4 limpers i go all in...1 caler guess who MR KINGS...we flip he has j 10 wtf r u kiddin flop comes j 10 2 t is a q rive is a 5 im gone.....

i have 80$$ left so i buy into 1 more sitngo now im gonna play super tite lol....i actually fold 33 from 1st seat i fold 10/10 when guy comes over top of my raise he showed jacks yeah telly nice fold lol..so it goes around i am dealt qq on bb 3 limpers then guy in cutoff raises now he had raised previously 4 hands in a row so i figure time ta make a stand he raised it up to 1200 blinds were200/400 so i reraise 2900 total he instacalls almost beats me into the pot so i ask aces again??? he says not even close 66 gues what come on riv u got it 180 gone frm the Bankroll just like that lol......

Try not to play if you feel overwhelmed or like you cannot put your game together. Take a break if you feel it's needed. Also, quit if you are not in a good state of mind.

We all run hot and cold.Take a couple of days off away from poker clear your mind and come back refreshed.
When I run bad if I keep playing I take it to my next game and I'm always thinking I can beat this but I just lose more and more games.

So I don't log in to poker for 3 days I find other things to do.It's hard not to load up a freeroll and play it but you do need breaks away every now and again.

I'm in a bit of a slump now myself. I just try to recognize when other things might be distracting me and keep me from playing my best game and not play as much. Or sometimes when I know I'm not playing my best but want to play anyway, I stick to freerolls until I feel like my play is back to normal.

I've only played on the internet. Someday, when I'm very strong, I'll try live play.

When i don't play well, I finally figured out it was something i did that took me away from my game, to lose focus. I reevaluate, and get back to basics. I think every one plays different. So what ever your style, Just take a break and re-focus (Get back to basics) If i stick to my game and don't do so well, to me is a lot better than playing like a complete unfocused idiot and get crushed. Playing good or bad you cant win them all. My ROI. on Carbon is (plus)16% Because I'm playing much better, My ROI on FTP&Pstars is about (Minus) 40%. Been playing on Carbon about 2 months. So i know I'm playing better all the time. Good Luck!!
