Default Looking for some other input...

I am just looking for input on how others would look at playing 10/10 or J/J Pre-flop in a multiple players seated situation. I have tried a number of different strateqies with these hands and almost always seem to get beat out. So as a rule now I play them like a K/Q off, but I know there has got to be a better way on these hands. Any strategy ideas would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

The thing with JJ and TT and even QQ is, you can't fall in love with them and refuse to lay them down. I think this is a place where stat programs can really help you. You should be raising preflop with any PP in a cash game, so if you get 3-bet and know the frequency of someone's 3-betting patterns, then its much, much easier to get a feel for your opponents cards.

The key is to be in control of the hand. If you raise, you take control. If you get reraised, you lose control.

If you raise and get called, don't play scared. Just because the overcard comes, doesn't mean your opponent has it. (If there is only one. Multiple opponents and an A hits, you might as well go into hibernation.).

If you raised preflop against one caller, you must fire a continuation bet, even if the A hits. They don't know you don't have AK. They could have 89 suited. You have to remain in control.

when I have JJ or 10 10 I raise preflop and hope for a good flop. Then listen to your gut feeling. I was in a tourney with JJ one time and went all in preflop the other guy called with AK he hit a K on the river. I figured out that if I waited untill after the flop. then bet he might have folded and I would have won the hand.

These are hands that you can opt to play in three ways: limp, limp raise or muck. There really is no correct way to go about it though. If you are at a slighly tight table, leading out with a raise preflop is probably the best option and allows you to control the action and size of the pots. With a more looser table, try a call-raise to keep your opponents off balance and possibly win more chips preflop. If you've been raised by a respected, tight player and don't want to risks the chips, dump the hand.

There are many different ways to play these cards, depending on position and how your opponents play - these are possibilities - tell me if you disagree PLEASE as they were presented to me elsewhere.
- if first to act, raise but if you have loose aggressive players behind you maybe check hoping for a raise and you could re-raise.
- if a loose aggressive player raises before you and you have position then re-raise.
- if a tight player puts in a small raise before you and you have position then re-raise, but if he comes back at you, be prepared to fold.
- if a tight player re-raises behind you, be prepared to fold.
- if a raise and re-raise happens before it's your turn to act, be prepared to fold.
- if in a tournament these ideas could change depending on your chip stack and how far into the tourney you are.

I play them almost identically the same way i play AK/AQ. The odds are about the same and if u hit ur ten you're lookin at a big payout. Clearly hitting your ten is a lil more sneaky than hitting A or K on the flop with a raise so I really enjoy this hand because I know the payout could be way higher. However the downside is with no 10/J on flop any face is a scary card... you gotta bet though, get that information and make your decision after u KNOW what the deal is.

The problem with pocket jacks, queens, kings, whatever is what do you do when a higher card hits the board? If you've made a big preflop bet and got called, you'd better plan on the other person having AQ or AK. He may have a pocket pair but do you want to be calling an all-in? I think the best was to play them is a small raise preflop trying to make a smaller playing field. If you don't improve be prepared to fold. If some one goes all-in, don't call them. They don't have top pair on the board. They have trips.
