Anyway, now that I think about it, you said it yourself that the guy almost always raises when you make a bet on the river, so .. yeah... you don't want to scare him away of the pot or anything ... But in the end you still would have lost your stack and he still would have called with a larger range of hands that you can beat then the range that can beat you. You just got very unlucky, that's all...

He is not calling with quads, no way.
If he made a mistake and his 9 month old kicked his mouse, maybe....

Heh that happened to me. I am playing poker limit $2/$4 and my child woke up. I am walking around the living room and when I get cards I go over and play the hand...I play pretty tight so usually it is fold then walk some more. I get KK so I raise...bad guy r calls. Flop K 2 7 he calls my check raise. Turn off card, we cap....River off card, I bet...he calls I raise he reraises I click the mouse just as the child kicks my hand and I am smiling at the mad pot I just won, when I notice all the chip go over to the bad guy WTF?? no possible flush no str8 so top set is boss, then I see where it says wixx folds. My son owes me $40 when he gets his first job!!

I never lost with quads but have lost with full houses. One full house I lost with there was a possible straight flush, if the other player had the 5 and 6. The river comes the pair to give me the full house. I'm hoping the other guys has the ace of spades giving himself the nut flush. He bets big and I go all-in. I'm overjoyed when he calls as I think I got him. Wrong, he has the 5 and 6 to give him the straight flush. This is the second time this has happened to me. If it can happen it will happen.

am i the only one who tends to lose sight of my opponents hand in general when i have a big hand. it's a bad habit that i need to get out of, but if i have quads or a nice full house then i find myself only worrying about how much money i can get on a couple value bets. like i said bad habit i need to get out of,but if i have quads the thought of him having higher quads never comes into my mind until i'm kicking myself after word. also, to that point im one of the few people(i think) who don't care about a beat like that. no matter how much i lose i really appreciate it and have a good laugh!!! after all thats poker and thats why i love it!!! some hands you cant get away from NO MATTER WHAT, and in a case like the one's you've all mentioned neither can he(or she, sorry ladies).
