and sometimes you just gotta go with gut feelings on come handsevery1 has different ways of playing freerolls, ive seen players all in non stop with utter crap cards and dominate and in 1 case some guy won a freeroll because he was donking non stop and was chip leader from the get go, i prefer to try an play proper but you always get these kind of players, and when facing them u have to hope and pray your best hand wins, pick and choose your battles i guess.good luck

A freeroll is not like a regular tournament as a lot more people will make loose calls and stretch their normal play because they do not have naught but time invested. In some ways they are harder to win than a regular buyin tournament.

the operative word is free. therefore people are there to gamble. they either want to get a big stack and have a chance at the money or they want to be eliminated quickly.

if you want to try to win a freeroll, go to a site where the freerolls have fewer entrants, playing a freeroll against 2000 people makes it that much tougher for you to actualy win one. i'm usually just happy when i cash.

just a few hours after posting here, i'm back to report that you can in fact win a freeroll. it takes a lot of luck, a lot of patience and a lot of cards.

won the $25 insomniac freeroll at betus. only $5, but it beats losing, right?

i'd post a screenshot to brag, but i don't know how.

Smile win a roll?

I have won a freeroll or any tournment outright but have place or show on occasion. I giv e this advice learn to give up paired hole cards when it is obvious your opponent has you beat, too many times I hold AA and lose to 2 pair or trips on the river. I'm not saying fold all the time, read opponent's style of play and adjust. He will usually have a pattern of play. Resist pushing also and vary your playing to confuse them. I haven,t won yet but it will happen.

much easier to win a buy in than a freeroll.

the first fr I won the site went bust soon after

tend to agree with pirates and it's not bad strategy ..call some of those allins early on and either become a big stack and dominate or bust. trouble is it goes against the grain if you are a tight player.

The key to playing freerolls is to have a tight aggressive style early and to play solid. After the first hour of freerolls, the play typically slows down, so be patient and make your moves. Patience must be exercised and you must be willing to lay down big hands when you don't get a good fit. Be wise in picking spots to make moves at your table and analyze your opponents versus your own play and image.
