freeroll whore(not password thief) that I am I came across a nice looking one at Fred so googled the site.

you need 25 posts to participate in games but the site looks for payment to become a member able to play all games and leagues!

That is becoming a popular theme with forums. They want you to contribute with membership fees to fund the prize pools. I guess they figure that password thieft will be less likely since you are ponying up the dough to participate. Nice business model, small segment of poker market. Wonder if it's profitable though.

Default not a route we will follow

hi all

just to clarify - this isnt a route that I will be following for 4kingpoker.com

while the freerolls have their own problems - charging a subscription for entering our games isn't something that I think would be a good idea for the forum -

the only requirement to play our games is for members to follow our posting rules

if its a buy-in then its a buy-in for the amount stated, if its a freeroll ... its a freeroll

the way I make money - to then put money into funding the games and leagues is via commission from the poker rooms for getting new signups (this cost players nothing)

So it really helps if members signup to new sites they havent tried via our links (you must do this via our links and these click throughs are counted / tracked to the FIRST site you click from - so make sure you dont visit sites by accident before going through our links ... otherwise you dont get our bonus offers

We dont get paid for people who just signup - we only get commission on depositing / real money players - BUT players are only tracked when they first signup - not on deposit etc ... so it's really important that even if your playing / signing up to play a freeroll that you still go through our links ;-)

This is how virtually ALL forums and poker content sites / portals like 4kingpoker work - if sites are charging for entry to freerolls IMHO they are no longer freerolls and it seems unfair to charge all members as some may make less of the games on offer than others

cheers scrawnybob

Spadeclub is like that. Spadeclub is a poker site not a forum. You pay a monthly or yearly fee and you can play in most of their games. They also give you some type of chips that you need to buy-in some of their games that pay cash. I played there while it was in beta. When they went live they would not allow me to buy-in as I live in one of the banned states. Is it worth it? I really don't know. I do know that they paid me for the money I won in beta and screwed me out of the chips I won and could not convert because I wasn't a paying member. Plus they did not let me know in advance that I would not be welcome. Their support is marginal at best.

I am a member of a forum that has a 'money league'. A series of freerolls that have prizes of less than a buck usually. The only way to get on the invite list is to send the admin $5. But all of the $5s are put into a prize pool and split between the top 3 players in the league.l Seems that the forum started with a group of friends betting in this manner and has since grown slightly. They have true freerolls and buyin games from time to time as well, and you do not need to pay the $5 to get into anything but that particular league.
