MAKE THE AWAYS PAY......
Hi all players. I've been playing online poker now since mid May. In that time i've seen and suffered a few BAD BEATS, won a $ or two, hit TWO ROYAL FLUSH HEARTS in one day and been called a FISH and other choice names many a time. All of this I can quite easily take in my strid. Well maybe not the ROYALS. They got me quite excited. The thing that I can't take and annoys me more than anything are the 'AWAYS' or 'SITOUTS' in the multi table tournaments.
When I first started playing online I asked someone why they did this and was told that ' IT WAS A WAY OF CHEATING' This I can't see as you can be sat at your seat and still fold every hand and play the MONSTERS. But damn are they annoying.
The other night I was sat in a FREEROLL with 8000+ players at one of the larger online POKER ROOMS and had nine 'AWAYS' at my table. Now some of you are thinking its an easy way to build your STACK and I agree in a sense but I hate it. Yes I was picking up 75/100/150 chips per round but what a waste of those AA KK AK etc
To make matters worse the TOURNEY leader had amassed some 67000 CHIPS to my measly 6500 and I hadn't seen a RIVER, TURN or even a FLOP for at least 30 mins.
I understand people do have valid reasons for not attending, but that is probably ony 2% of the population 5% of the time. Maybe even less.
If the PITBOSS' were to impose a penalty scheme, say DOUBLE BLINDS after three hands 'AWAY' or 'SITTING OUT' they may be less inclined to do so. And one things for sure, the TOURNEYS wouldn't take as long and I myself would be less annoyed and less prone to TILT.
Let me know what you think guys n girls.

I know what you what mean it is really annoying but it is completely within the rules. When someone pays their enterence money etc they buy the seat whether they are phsically sat in it or not.

A lot of pro's use this at the begining of big tournements, for example Phil Hellmuth always turns up 2hours late for tournies.

Well I think it would be great if you at least removed the sitouts from freerolls. They do it at Everest Poker, and i think that it is a great feuture.

I agree. They should pick the players up from a freeroll after 15-20 minutes.
There is nothing wrong with sitting out in itself. I do this all the time in live tournament - Especially the long ones. I'm not happy with a 10-20 minute break I'll leave 10-15 min early go get some food before the line starts and take some time to mediate and clear my head.

Default sitouts

depends on where im playing depends on my feelings on sit outs
for instance i was in a poker site freeroll and 8 sitouts on the table
admitted kinda boring sitting there for 2 hours stealing blinds lol
but when i left i was chip leader hahaha
but in private run freerolls there is no excuse
as the admins work hard for theses games so if u cannot make it dont register?
or if u think u will be a little late post it in the forum !!
just dont join knowing u not gonna make first 2/3 hours
cos its not fair on the ones that bottering showing up playing there hands and get knocked out only to find that a few sitouts got in the money

Default I do sit-out

Titan have points buy in Tourneys and I have been dumped out so many times by idiots calling all-in on anything that I now miss the first hour or so of some tourneys.

If I don't I would sit at the table folding anyway unless I had a top 10 hand in which case it would be a big bet or all-in, called by an idiot who would pick up a flush/straight with 4 - 6 or something.

I do better when the all-in boys and girls have gone away.

Am I wrong for enhancing my chances?

I totally agree with what your saying along those lines.
but by folding away and playing your big hands you are showing interest and not just there to make up the numbers.
And your there with me we can share the blinds.

The only problem with the above is the idiots, they will call and they will win.

I would rather wait a bit then play a nice tight agressive game until I get beaten by cards or my own poor play (happens too often for my liking).

I know of 3 poker houses online where it's a 1960's sit-in. But look at the bright side.....once the sitters are gone you can finally play some poker. And what's the deal when a sit-out can win a hand or put you out of a tourney? Send these sites an e-mail stating your dissatisfaction. They get enough flak about it they might change the game play. I know of 1 site I play at where you can only sit-out 10 hands. On # 11 you have been removed from that event. NO SITTERS!!!!!!
