I'd like to get some thoughts on these two hands. Other than the obvious, fold preflop, I'd like to see if anyone would approach these hands differently than I had played them. Assume you are willing to call preflop with the expectation of getting paid off if you flop big with implied odds.

Hand 1 come on man you called a big raise with 9 J off...ok so maybe you felt lucky...once you hit trips you pushed...I push with trips on a flush draw board too...that guy made a gutsy call. Hand 2, I can see calling there with suited connectors...but the flush flop hits and you are holding 6 7...that guy is all in...I would put him on a high flush more than a bluff, or what he had. Sure he got lucky and beat you in the end, but I would be hard pressed to call all-in with a low flush like that...

i see why you called the 800 due to your chip count but those cards were'nt worth it in that situation.then you get lucky an see a flop like that yeah that was the right call.
an then came the turn thas where he got lucky, even though you play to see a flop an saw something good his flush was in the making good try.

hand#2 be careful when calling with a flush with a low numbers
even though you was dealt the flush at the flop sometimes that turn makes a big difference on ur call if is part of the flush,if one of my tens was a heart it would of played out different even though i won it but i got lucky on the river an made a fullhouse
i was playing my trips an then a full house developed at the river

wow, Well obv you fold both hands preflop and you dont lose a dime right? The problem with $1.00 tourneys is that you cant lose more than a dollar. thats why there are way to many people playing like you are here. The more the game is played like that (Calling big raises with j9 etc.) the more it is reduced to a slot machine luckbox of an event.
But assuming I am playing like you said for big value if it hits. I still have to pop the flush as soon as it hits. There are way to many things that can go wrong to check raise like you did. No way he folds anyway in these luckaments, but you took away his option by pricing him in with the check raise. Only way you can win this hand is to get him to fold before the turn.
I think you are totally on the wrong track in terms of style. In these type of tourneys you have to conserve chips so you can protect your premium hands. You will not win near as many $1.00 tournaments playing the loose style as you will playing tight and agressive post flop when you hit. you have to reduce the amount of flips cause you will never win them all.
Very good point. I missed that the first time, but by check-raising you made it 'easy' to be called. Guy bets you raise he only has to bet a little more. If you are allin off the go he may not call a larger amount with nothing invested. But you were short stacked and he would have called hoping to hit the flush anyway. Once you were in that hand you were doomed.
The second hand I enjoyed reading both of the sides to the story.
