I wrote to my Represenative ( Roscoe Bartlett) and he sent me this bogus response about how he can not vote for something that encourages gambling. How is having something not be illegal, encouraging? Does having alcohol legal ecourage someone to drink? RIDICULOUS!!!

That's a joke. OTB is legal. Lotteries are legal. Casinos are legal in varying degress. There are horsetracks and dogtracks. In my state, poker is legal as long as a percentage go to charity.

These idiots are such hypocrits--vote them ALL out.

Betting on the pony's or dog racing is based on parimutuel betting. Meaning you are buying a piece of the horse or the dog collectively with all other's placing a wager on that particular race. Lottery's are simply a sweepstakes. Not considered gambling.

Here is the responce to email I sent my Represenatives in Washington:

"Dear Mrs. Ensor:

Thank you for getting in touch with me about internet gambling. It's good hear from you.

I appreciate hearing your views on this issue. As you may know, legislation to improve security at our ports included a provision that made most online gambling illegal. It also prevents banks and credit card companies from making payments to gambling websites. President Bush signed the Port Security Improvement Act (Public Law 109-347) on October 13, 2006.

I will always do my best to balance the need for individual freedom and policies that build strong communities. Your views will be helpful to me should the Senate consider this issue again.

Yes it does encourage it through availability.

Many attempts have been made throught the world to control, regulate all of the vices..sex,drugs,gambling etc, none has been a true success.

IMHO whilst its obviously been another scare factor used under the banner of 'Defeating Terrorism' it has really very little to do with it.

They're against it because it came on them like a freight-train and they couldn't cope. Until the structures and regulations are in place to effectively negate their fears they will continue to pervade this policy..

After all the government doesn't want the countries' money going not to terrorists but other countries. Maybe that happened too much with the players you have

And really whats the deal people, you can own and purchase firearms, but not sit in front of a PC and play a game for a few bucks...maybe if you put it too them that the crime rate could drop as a result of legalisation then you might get somewhere

Like online gambling has anything to do with port security. It is rediculous how they can tack on these amendments to bills that do not connect to the main issue of the bill. What politician is going to vote againnst a bill to increase port security? Certainly not one that wants to get reelected! So the bill passes with all these other little laws attached by law makers with private agendas. The system is broken!!!

I am proud to say I never voted for the great President. I know some people that actually voted for him TWICE if you can believe that! And 1 is my husband!

I think anyone would be a great improvement includin Hilary but I am routing for Obama although I respect McCain very much. He is a true patriot. I think the country is in a win win situation right now. My political views veer more toward Obama but there is no doubt that McCain would do what he truely believed best for country.

But in fairness to "dear infallable GB" the system was broken before he got there. Ofcourse he hasn't done anything to fix it.
