I was called a donkey

I was short-stacked in a freeroll. Needed to start making a move at some chips.

Was in a late position, one call to me. I had QJo in the hole. Went all in. Everybody folded. Picked up some chips.

Next hand I was dealt pair of 10s. One call up to me. Went all in. Then some dude called me a donkey. Blinds folded, caller called me. He had 2 Kings.

On the flop I drew a 10. Things were looking good.

4th street, a king. Damnit.

Anyway, I didn't appreciate being called a donkey. I still believe both were solid plays considering my chip situation.

Any thoughts?

For all the definition of a donkey or a donk within the on-line poker world as I understand it, is a novice or new player. One which has little or no understanding of the game, pot odds, starting hands, etc.

Most players who accuse others are probably not that good themselves.

I am called fish or donk quite often, usually by people who go all in with low pocket pairs when I pick up top pair on the flop.

I think aggressive calls like that have to be made if there's a danger of being blinded out of the tourney. In those situations, you can't afford to wait for AA, AK or KK to go in. Remember, whoever you are, to win any large tourney you need your share of luck.

I've been called far worse for going AI with far less than you held but I had 750 chips with blinds going up to 400... I called an AI with A4s (v his A9o) in the belief that I couldn't be too choosy about what to dive in with. My opponent got the hump when I flopped a four, mind... was even angrier when he tilted with 74o v my KQs which flopped a flush and knocked him out...

don't give it a second thought OKRed. you made the right plays in your situation and trust me you're going to get called a lot worse than that. i love it when someone thinks i'm a poor player and tells me so, as far as i'm concerned it give me a huge edge.

make like a duck and not a donkey, just let their words be like water off your back !

so if it doesnt apply let it slide. they are either trying to get to you or are just pissed because of bad luck or dumb play. dont sweat the small stuff.
