Default Been trying to play more hands

Been trying to play a few extra hands if I get good pre-flop odds. Here is one.

    Cake Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tournament, 50/100 Blinds (6 handed)

    Hand#2297868205000035 - $5 NL Hold'em T8815109 -- Table 1

    Seat 2: gogo***2 ($1,502 in chips)
    Seat 3: pitb***3 ($5,885 in chips)
    Seat 4: Donk***4 ($1,805 in chips) DEALER
    Seat 5: ND1991 ($1,562 in chips)
    Seat 8: BLAC***8 ($2,156 in chips)
    Seat 10: *Get***10 ($2,090 in chips)

    ND1991: checks
    BLAC***8: checks
    gogo***2: checks

    *** TURN *** [4s] ----- MONEY!!!!!

ND1991: bets 300 ----- pot size bet with nut straight and flush draw on board
    BLAC***8: folds
    gogo***2: is all in 1402.0000 ----- HUH???
    ND1991: calls 1,102
    gogo***2: shows [4c Qh]
    ND1991: shows [6c 5h]

    *** RIVER *** [7c]
    ***SHOW DOWN***
ND1991: wins 3,104 with Straight, Seven high

Is this a good type of starting hand to speculate with? I had to put $50 into a pot of $250 so was getting 5:1 pre-flop. I would have laid down if someone had bet flop, but they didn't.

    Thoughts appreciated.

    you played it perfectly correct

When trying to open your hands up blinds and late position are the likely places where you want to do this. In the blinds you already have money invested and late position gives you better opportunity to through a bluff successfully.

of course, most importantly "know the players at your table"
playing the opposite style of poker then the majority at the table plays

If you are trying to play more hands, suited connectors are a good place to start.

You can either hit big or just dump it.

Alot of players won't spot the possible straight and will pay you off with top pair and 2 pair hands etc.
