Default Want your feedback on this hand

Earlier I had suffered a tough beat when my AQ lost to AK. I was slowly building my way back, and I was dealt Ks. Let me know what you would have done post flop. I feel my pre-flop 3x BB raise was fine, and a bigger raise would have been called anyway, so don't worry about the pre-flop play.

    Thanks, Sandman

    Default tricky flop IMHO

    hi

I think this is very tricky flop for your hand (but I think I would end up folding most of the time)
would depend on my chip stack relative to calling his all-in

ok you have KK and raise 3x BB and get called - so I would be putting the other player on something credible - as thats about 10% of his stack - his range of hands could include something like Ace + picture suited or maybe decent PP

anyway the main thing here I think your saying is the post flop play - which I can see would be tricky because on the one hand you have KK and you also have flopped th nut flush draw with your King hearts

    but

That ace is a real problem - I guess also made flush should be a worth a thought too (but less so)

he goes all-in ... so you have the ball in your court and some thinking to do

at this stage you can either fold and loose 320 or put another 2700 in

weighing the pros and cons I think what jacks is saying is that assesing the possible hands they would go all-in with v's your hand - you have to be thinking your an under dog (I wouldn't say massive) but

you have to be thinking - he got damn lucky flop - he's holding an ace suited or even off suit ace & a picture puts you behind

if he'd just bet out or even bet the pot - I'd have been tempted to call and hope to make that flush

but too many players will call a 3xBB bet with position and an ace + picture

that is always the tricky thing with playing KK - if the flop comes with an ace you invariably have problems

in fairness QQ is another possibility you should consider - trip Queens or even trip 9's

so I'd agree with Jacks - your hand starts to look worse and worse the more you think about it

its a tough laydown but in a way him going all-in (and you folding which would be my suggestion) would have saved you a few more bets going to the end of the hand if he had just bet out and you'd called etc

    cheers scrawnybob

I think most of the time i have KK and an ace come on the flop i get rid of them. Specially on ring games.

I think scrawny post is just great, i agree with him in every word.

It is a very tricky flop for you as Bob said, you do however have 10 outs and depending on the amount of the buyin I may well be tempted to call as any heart gives you the nuts. Also as Bob said, many players will call a 3xBB raise with any pkt pair, Ace anything or even suited connectors. A 5XBB raise makes them at least think a little.

I have lost with this hand and won also. It helps if you have played a few hands against the other player you some times can see a patern to their betting.

Actually, I had a good feeling that he had an ace or a flush/flush draw. However, in my mind I had the right amount of outs.

After plugging the cards into an odds calculator, I discovered that I was a 60/40 underdog. If notified of this at the time, I probably still would have made the call, seeing that it was a freeroll. However, if I had been playing a live cash game, or if it was later in a tournament, I probably would have folded.

That said, I called, I did not hit the King or the heart, and my tourney was over.

    Thanks for all the replies.

yes i agree with the 2nd post. If it was a freeroll go allin as well. If this is a real tourny i would have folded on the flop and if it was cheap enough in a cash game i might have called if pot odds justtified it. that ace and hearts are scary. So use caution.
