    Talking 3 Me

Alright ya'll, here's one that I just love!!! (Makes me TINGLY all over every time it
happens!!!) You're sitting there, enjoying yourself(does not matter about other variables)new hand, some in/some out, and the flop........POW!..... a set!! three of something!!!! What do YOU like to do?!?!?!?!? Ok, you do not have the 4th, and let's say for fun you don't have a pair in your hand either! I really want to hear so play ideas on this!!! MY approach varies, but here's my favorite thing to do. ALMOST always everyone freezes up, the shock factor I guess, LOTS of checking going on usually.... .lol. If I am 1st or on the button(and no previous bets) I love to "represent" the quad factor by making some sorta LARGE bet(not all-in.....but I have!) and steal the pot. This works most of the time, except the rare occasion some jerk has the nerve to slow play me WITH the quads.......very embarassing.....lol. I think it is one of the best "True" gambles that presents itself in the middle of all this "calculated" wagering.
Now I AM sure this is covered in umpteen books and/or articles, but I just really love to play this hand and watch others and how it turns out(play it out!!!!!!) I don't have "actual" stats, so don't take these nos. too serious, but I would venture to say I win
50-60% of the hands like this I play in, and 90% of those never play out. Of course,
the hands I lose are usually pretty big beats, but I rarely get put out(see above, jerks
who actually HAVE the quads!) I have been meaning to post this for some time now,
but have "lolly-gagged", but it happened to me again recently and I wanted to share
it with SOMEONE! I was playing on a new site for me, and just plsying low-end SNG's
and small MTT's, trying to get the feel of the software, site and it's players. I was in late position, maybe the button with A 8 suited and no big raises and on the flop.....
POW! a set of 8's!!!!!! TEE HEE I think all giddy! And lo and behold the nice Canadian
lady to my right pulls my stunt and goes all-in. How fortuetous!!!!(is that a word?)
So, after the required fake "thinking about it,.......I call, and well you can figure out the rest. She was very graciuos in losing ALL her chips. First and only time that I have
been the "Quadster" in this scenario. Very satisfying I must say.
Well, let's hear some more good stories and great advice and thoughts on this one!
    Can't wait
    Thanx again!

    Later
    Lucky

Typically, there is no need to lead out on a board with trips on it unless you already have a pair in hole. A lot of times, people will fire away with ace high while their opponent already has a boat or quads. Give up the betting to see how your opponents are reacting and make your play from there.
When at the tables, play for the love of the game and show respect for your opponents.

Depends on the variables. If I know there is a calling station or someone 'mad' at me I love to fire out the big bet when I have the quads. This usually means doubling up for me. If I am not sure or have not seen much donk calling, I will check with quads in hand. Most of the time the guy holding the quads is not going to bet that flop.

Now in your question do I bluff the big bet with trips on the board, Hell no. Risk vs. reward, you are usually betting a large amount over the potential pot you are trying to buy. It is not worth it to me to bet it big, because even if you buy that pot 3 out or four times, when the guy holding the forth or the pocket pair reams you, you are losing a lot more than those 3 small pots.
