If someone there had the nuts flush, or even better: a full house, then you could get a good amount of money.
Without those hands, you can feel happy to have two callers after the river.
Think you played the hand the same way I would do it.

The flop bet there was fine. On the turn though, I would have lead out with a 20 or 30 cents bet there to see if anyone would be enticed. When you catch a board that good, you can only hope someone made a straight there and would be willing to gamble with you. And had you received any callers on the turn, led out with 5o cents bet on river. Can't show the hand down for free.

you really need someone else to have a hand to get paid off, or you need someone to decide now is the time they are going to try a big bluff.

as it is, you made a value bet and got called by two players. nice job.

I think you need to bet the turn and start building the pot. If nobody has anything, its unlikely you are going to get much out of the hand on the river anyway so checking doesn't accomplish much IMO. If someone has something good, you want to start building the pot as quickly as possible so you can get max value.

Yeah, checking the turn was your only mistake, I agree. Possibly betting a little more on the river also but that is a judgement call as to if your opponents will pay you off. Like so much of poker, having a read on your opponents is crucial.

Apart from the stuff that has been mentioned about betting the turn and probably betting more on the river. I personally would have raised with KJ suited in a five handed game. I prob would have put in a raise of about 2.5 to 5 times the bb. I am not a big fan of limping in short handed games

The only real way is for someone to have had 2 pair, trips or another flush. You mighta been able to get double your bets on the flop, turn, river if you had tried.

little raise on flop and then checking the turn could make your opponent bet the river maybe
