    Default Big Pot

I agree that being the 3rd one in with JJs is not a great idea. It is also not the only thing to consider though. There is more to cards than just cards. Did you go in thinking that they both had hands like AK and AQ? Also the pot got soo big. From the chip stacks I would assume that it was early in the tourney so you had limited time invested with the chance to triple up. I am not sure what I would do. Actually I would probably fold because I am a big sissy but I do not think this is an absolutely horrible call. because the pot was so large and the person prior to you kinda seemed weak with just the smooth call.

Anyway I would not lose any sleep over it if I were you. Thats poker.

You are right, this is a super easy snap fold. I would have folded just to the one RRer but then the limper also shoves which is very scarey. The only thing that might sway me to call is that this is a $1 donkament. Move up to where they respect your raises imo

Blinds are way too small at this point to be getting it in with JJ. If you run that hand through SNGWIZ I'm sure it would be an easy fold.

With a re-raise all-in and a call before you, it should be a fold situation.
P.S. especially since you knocked out my team mate and friend.
P.S.2 Nate, are you suggesting that 4KP team members in these tourneys are donkeys? Certainly hope not.

Personally for me this is not an instafold in fact I would probably call as well.

    My reasons are as follows:

Its a $1 STT, for me $1 is not much of an investment in a game, therefore Im willing to gamble when I think I may have the best of it.

Players ranges for in all pre-flop in this type of game could be very wide.

I may on ocassions find myself up against A7o, 44, or KJs.

    I'm a gambler - I like JJ verus say AK & 99 - I am 45% or even JJ v AK & AQ - I am still about 45% to triple up.

Unless I can put the other players on AA, KK or QQ with some certainty I dont think you will lose alot of money in the long run playing JJ against 2 players in a $1 STT in an early round.

If you move up to say $30 games then its an entirely different situation.

In summary, this is not an idiot call and posters that say this is a super easy fold IMO do not give the situation much thought and probably are playing too tight.

No, I am suggesting that you move up to a level where minbet/shove is not a move in over half the players arsenal. "move up to where they respect your raises" means that if you ae playing at a level several levels above the bulk of the field, you will find it easier to play in a game where the rest of the field is only like one level below you.

Imagine playing against a table with 9 players who are actually bots programmed to bet/call/fold all completely at random. How frustrating would that be? How would you adjust your game to such a style? To me, this is what $1 buyins are like to play. So many players in them are so rediculously bad that it becomes very difficult to play optimally.

FWIW, I started my poker career playing freerolls. I played til I made literally a few dollars, then switched to $1 buyins. Once I had a $200 BR I moved up to $2 buyins. and so on and so on.

Today, I play for a living. And I can 100% the most frustrating, unrewarding time in my life was the first two and a half months I spent turning $0 into $1050. Once I reached the $10 level the game became enjoyable again. The play at the lower levels will make you want to stab yourself in the hand.

I am assuming here, but it would appear that the starting stacks were 1500.

It was level II, so at best maybe 10 minutes into the game, and you were down to 860 chips.. Thats almost half your stack gone in no time at all.

That for me would suggest you are playing far too loose and getting involved far too mcuh in the early stages, and that you got JJ and went all for leather believing you could double or treble up... You got very lucky

If you were shortstacked, late in the game, then I could understand it. But it was very early on and you just went loopy with the first good hand you got..

Slow yourself down, be patient. Let others knock each other out. Dont try getting all the chips at the start. Time and patience are on your side.. Take both and use them to your advantage..

WIth all due respect, but there shouldnt even have been an all in raise.

No matter what level its at, a bad all in call will inevitably end up with the same outcome..
