Thread: When to go all in with a low pocket?

  1. #1

Default When to go all in with a low pocket?

I always go all in with pocket 10s.

Tell me when is the right time for a player to go all in right away when holding a pocket of 2s or 3s up to 9s?

    Thanks!

This type threads always make me smile because there is no one way to play any hand. Also if you always go all-in with pocket 10s then if people pay attention to you and if you play online keep notes on you then you will become very predictable.

The only situation that I would almost definately just push and pray with small poker pairs is if I'm short stacked and need to double up.

Also I wouldn't class 77-99 as small pockets. Personally I would say 22-66 is small pocket pairs.

You cant play any hand the same way if you want to be a profitable player.

I suppose thats for tournament play rather than ring games......

    22-66 would be small

    77-JJ would be medium

    QQ-AA would be large

I say that cause you cant really play J's hardcore unless there is a small flop or you hit a set.

thanks for the replies. recently i've been having bad luck when going all in with "rockets" pre-flop. i think its 8 out of 10 lose.

Not really, you said that you considered a medium pair up to 99, I was just saying that I consider 1010 & JJ to be medium as well. The reason why I say that is because you almost have to hit a set with J's or 10's to win a hand if there are over cards on the board..........to each his own.

imo i think that when you get to be about 8 time the big blind and have a pair you have to push and take a chance. you have to either double or go. good luck that is what you need at this moment.

If youre talking about tournament play then maybe yes if thats the best youve seen in awhile. But for a cash game this is a huge no-no.......

    Default little pair

i thing you will decide this only when you are at the table.a little pair is good when the opponent has AK or somethink big and in the flop are small cards.it is a think of inspiration and luck. that's poker... good luck and see you at the tables

they only way to play small pockets is to go all in preflop and hope it scares everyone else off.
