Just looking for a way to improve the way I play. Some tips would be appreciated.

You can start by reading the forum - everything under Poker Strategy
Then you might want to read a book or two or watch some training videos.
If you're playing freerolls my advice would be to deposit 20-50$ on a big poker site like stars or tilt and start cash games. You will probably lose them at first but playing with ur money will definitely improve your play. Good luck0 = XP + (1 - X)(-LV + WH)

For constructive criticism, don't just ask for tips from other members. You will have to do a lot of work yourself ie. let your fingers do the walking and spend a lot of time researching what this forum has to offer (which is a lot). There are numerous tips and information provided and by getting involved in the forum, you will learn a lot faster than simply asking for tips. Also by playing in the cash tournaments provided by the forum, you will learn faster than playing in the play money games and freerolls offered by the poker sites (although this might be a good way to start if you are a new player). There are also numerous books available if you are into reading.

A mistake made in the past is not as important as the lesson learned from it.

You might start by making it easier for people to help you by providing a lot more information about your game, the levels you play at, etc. Just posting up one short sentence asking for tips is way too vague to generate anything except general tips, which can be useful, but aren't specific to you or the state of your game.
Making the effort to ask good questions and to provide the relevant info is part of the work you should put in if you truly want to improve.

I think i have one tip for you, which might be the essential one.
In poker, as everywhere else, if you're not able to learn from your mistakes, then you should give up with that game and play scrabble.
If you need real advices and tips about playing different games at poker then you will find it in the "Articles" tab, as said Stixy.
If you ever need some inputs about hands or some particular point of play, give us sufficient infos for us to help.

Reading books is a good idea but I think it takes too much time. There is no substitute for felt time. Play as often as you can in low limit tournaments and ring games and slowly work your way up. Online is full of donks, if you play smart you will find htat its not very hard to win at online poker....good luck

You think reading a pokerbook takes too much time?
I'm an avid book reader (poker) as a tool for working on my game (amongst many other things as well). The amount of time I have put into reading poker books pales in comparsion to the amount of time I've put in using other tools for working on my game (& I've read in excess of 50 poker books). It's not for everyone.. but I enjoy it almost as much as playing the game.
The amount of time to invest in reading is VERY WELL WORTH IT! ie., reading Moshmann's SNG Strategy book took me from being ~break-even SNG player to a regularly winning player (ROI jumped from around 0-+5%, to 15-25%). Time well spent (I've read that same book 5x thru now..... although my ROI dropped off & I haven't played many SNGs in quite some time, lol).
Tips for improving upon one's game.....
I'd say to definitely read a few good poker books for starters (playing at the same time... well.. not at the 'exact' same time.... you know what I mean).
I'd start with Phil Gordon's LIttle Green Book
then... Harrinton On Holdem - Vol.1 & 2 (and CashGame series if you're more into playing cash tables).
Collin Moshmann's SNG Strategy (If you choose to specialize in SNG's.. which is actually a good idea in my opinion).
then a few others after you've put some time in
Cash game Professional No Limit
Tourneys - "Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time".
if you can get your hands on some poker training vids... all the better Some folks find learning from these to be a better avenue than the books (for myself I was glad I had a decent foundation from reading books first & believe it helped me gain far more from training vids. when I got there, able to discect hero's hands & at times being in disagreement with their chosen line.
Reviewing one's game is also an excellent method to improve one's game.
Hooking up with a few poker friends is very good too - - exchanging ideas on how to play particular hands (multiple heads are better than one kinda thing).
Posting HH's on a poker forum and being open to feedback.
Reading other's HH posts
etc. etc. etc.Brad Booth - > "Like a fight... it's not how you start, it's how you finish"

Hi gang
I have to agree with PO statement as usual, even tho i didn't read as much as i should already.
BTW PO, I wonder if you already read "Kill Elky" the first book of Elky, and if you did, is it a good invest or not.
I still have to finish 2nd tome of Harington and will probably jump into the cash game books to follow. I think that, as it happened when i was at school, reading is the best way for me to remember things, even tho i smoke way too much pot.
Plus, you can incorporate the knowledge even if you didn't iunderstood well the purpose at the time you read it, as an unconscious thing, somewhere into the brain that will be useful later on.
