Default To show or not to show that is the question

I generally never show a hand unless I have to. But I do see some players showing one or both cards on a regular basis. I know some do it to entice a call later on but I would have thought people are well aware of that trick by now.

I don't show because I don't want other players knowing my calling or raising range. I think when ever you show your are only giving information to your opponent. Sometimes it's a curse as players tend to think your are a lot tighter than perhaps you are and you don't get paid well on the big hands.

It can be frustrating when you fold to a bet on the river and they muck so you don't know if they had you beat. I will look some players up if it's cheap enough. But as I don't show I can't blame them if they don't.

    What to others think.

The only time I show is in forum games when I have had to play hard against a team mate. I just show I have the hand I am making out I have.

The only other occasion is when I'm playing on a cash table. I play very tight when I'm playing cash and this eventually leads to everyone folding when you raise. So I run the odd bluff and if everyone folds I'll show the hand just to get more action next time.

    Default show

If your on a hot run reraising a lot and well stacked why not show. Even if you have pocket aces you will lose 1 in 7 times.

I would be happy with taking down all them free chips with no risk but this is down to your ability to feel in control of your table.

I used to show... Now I never show on the cash tables.
So my advice would be never show; well expect for some friendly forum games

Open games is a never show for me, but in friendly forum games some times i show or tell what i have, not always but some times.

Also some sites like fulltilt have the option to muck not in the table but in the options part so there i never show in any game.

I have got in the habit of not showing my hands. I was so slow in deciding that by the time I clicked on the button, the next hand was in progress - lol.

A mistake made in the past is not as important as the lesson learned from it.

i agree its not smart to give your opponents information for free but on the flip side you can choose what info. your giving them to create an image. great thing about poker is that there isn't just one way to be successful, if your the type of player that likes to show and it works for you then more power to you.

I wouldn,t show in cash games either. But in the friendly forum games i often show. I like to show a win when I hit a 4-6 s for example to display my opening range isn,t always as Tight as some players may think.I never show bluffs as I don,t like the feeling when other Players show they Bluffed me. lol

Forum games I show a decent bit. Normally in the team league if I am in a hand with a teammate I show them my hand. Open Mtt's I couldnt tell you the last time I showed a hand in one of those. SNG's or cash tables, or any table that you will be playing the same people for a little while I will chose info to share. If I run hot on cards I may show one or two just so people don't think I have lost my mind raising 4 hands in a row. Mostly the only time I show is when I see it helping me out later more than a little info will help them. If I am against someone that will get a little crazy with donating chips after getting bluffed I will show them and let them donate later. If I want to maintain my tight image I may show to allow myself to steal a few hands later. I don't just give free info but I will give them bad info all day long.
