Payouts in the rebuys are decent too (none of this buyin for $3.... and grind away for 3.5hrs. to win $3.84).

Good players have a big advantage in the rebuys. The tourneys are usually 'deepstacked' tourneys once the rebuy period ends (some of them though.. .it can be a bit misleading as the blind structure goes up Sooooo fast that you really won't be deep for long.. ie. the $3rebuy on Stars). There are many bad players in these & with a 'good' players advantage, they should be able to outplay their opponents postflop in position. (also lots of room for 3betting... & even 3-betting light vs. right opponents).
Also, the play (after rebuy period) is generally better than your typical micro freezeout as these MTTs attract many players who will usually be playing moderately higher buyin MTT's ($10-$25).. but there's plenty of fish in the mix too.
GL if you decide to give them a go.

Yeah, I do not see me migrating to being a rebuy player. My conservative style of play just does not stand up well to a maniac who can go in 5 times and does not mind losing one bit.

I notice some freerolls offered by forums are rebuys. I think this is a way I show support to a forum is going ahead and doing a rebuy if I see I am within reach of being ITM. Especially more at addon time.

Like others, I like to play very tight during the rebuy period. I do the initial rebuy, and I add on. I plan on spending one rebuy and one add on in any rebuy I enter, and am OK with spending a little more. The guys who shove will be more than happy to fund your run deep into a rebuy tourney, so I say go for it.

One thing I like to watch out for is any guaranteed tourney at a specific time at a specific site which, after the re-buy and add-on period, there is a + ev payout - ie. there are not enough entries, re-buys, and add-ons to make up the guaranteed payout. You can find these by looking at the tourneys that have finished.
Haven't played in too many lately but have two good cashes in $3 tourneys, while taking the add-on only (no re-buy) - am still looking at the best way to handle this situation.

A mistake made in the past is not as important as the lesson learned from it.

i'm not a big fan of R&A tournaments but tried it sometimes cause, as Andreh, it's sometimes hard to find a regular tourney that fit my BR. I think all regulars at this kind of MTT must use a specific strategy like PO said, but when i ever enter this game i keep in mind my own leitmotiv: no addon, no rebuy.
If i want more chips, i get them from my fortunate opponents that love to gamble, that's the place my rebuy and addons are hiding. You know that a usual R&A donk player will end all-in on a hand he hold TPTK, so that i only need to adjust my own rank of calling hands there. My advice is find the weak players that have a deep wallet, and avoid yourself from going all-in, unless you hold trip minimum, during first hour.
