Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time (Vol.2)....
"Winning Poker Tournaments - One Hand At A Time", without a doubt the best poker book (Tournament play) that I have ever read (250 HH's of 'trouble hands', put together by Matt Hilger, with contributing authors Pearljammer (Jon Turner), Rizen (Eric Lynch), & Apestyles (Jon Van Fleet). Fantastic book!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, there's now a 'vol. 2' that has been released & am wondering if anyone's read this book yet? I searched for it on Amazon & discovered that it is already sold out (there was on used copy up for sale, priced at 3x the orig. price of a new one, LOL). This book sounds excellent and am sure it will be if it's even anything close to Vol.1
If you've read it, can you give us some feedback? I did happen to find that it's still available on a PokerTraining/Video site, but is far more expensive to purchase this way. Also with Amazon, free delivery if order exceeds $39, so it'd give me an excuse to buy two books instead of just one, lol.
I'll update this thread once I actually get ahold of a copy of this book (am sure I'll read thru it the first day it arrives).Brad Booth - > "Like a fight... it's not how you start, it's how you finish"

For sure read HOH series first as these books are far more advanced than Harrington's stuff & it'd be essential to have an understanding in the basics first.

Well I received my copy in the mail. Amazon was sold out of them... then went back on there & they had some (for cheaper than other spots I'd checked out).. .then when i made a decision to purchase it I went back on Amazon and there was only one 'new' copy left and the price had jumped by almost $30 (more than doubled previous price)??
I decided to get a copy through a promo on PokerXFactor poker video training site & just got it in the mail last week. The book definitely lives up to some of the reviews I'd read. Very well worth it! (the 72hr. all access pass at PXF was worth the few extra bucks too!).Brad Booth - > "Like a fight... it's not how you start, it's how you finish"

OK POKER O
I ordered both book from Amazon today, the books really perked my interest since "RIZEN" is going to be holding a WPT bootcamp over here in October. IM so far behind on my readings, I guess I need to devote at least one day a week to study and then try to work it all into my game

Awesome oppurtunity to hook up with Eric Lynch (I really like his portion of both books).
You will LOVE those two books for sure!!!
If you haven't already read Harrington On Hold'em Vol.1 &2 Tournament play (not his cashgame series), you might want to read through them first (I'd recommend just picking them up at a library.... or thru an inter-library book loan). Although alot of people like to keep those around.
I've found it really difficult to read those books one day a week. Instead it's usually zoom through them at first in a few days.... then go back to read them again & again (Vol.1 I've probably gone through 4x now... it's still good!).Brad Booth - > "Like a fight... it's not how you start, it's how you finish"

DAng I should of posted first, I was looking at the Harrington books and was trying to remember (took me a while to refind this thread for the book title) but IM sure these 2 books will keep nice and confused for a while lol
I might have to use the zoom reading theory too and then re-read slower the next time, I am so far behind

This book was a big disappointment for me. I read one of Daniel's earlier books (which was okay, but pretty basic as it claimed to be, still well-written though) and was expecting much more from him in his new book. The book has a handful of different sections in it, from a complete beginner type big bet style by Evelyn Ng (which isn't even worth reading for a beginner in my opinion ) to David Willam's section 'Mixing it Up' which was also a huge letdown. Todd Brunson's addition was pretty much useless for me too. Paul Wasicka's on 6max onlinec cash game was ok.... but again not great. Erick Lindgren's section on online MTT play - not bad but again it was just an overall broad approach to it... kinda set up for someone without much experience with playing the online MTT's...& a sort of 'what to expect' & some basic overall strategy approach to tournament play.
Daniel's section on small ball play in MTT's was quite good (190pgs. of it). I just wish he'd left out all the other crappier sections in the book but I suppose he his intentions were to market it to a wide target market.
Is the book worth purchasing for his section?? Yah... probably I'd say but wouldn't put it near the top of my MTT Tournament play list. I just feel it could've been sooooooo much better overall. Too bad he didn't have sections in there by some of his PokerVT crew.... ie 'Annette_15' I'm sure would've had some great addtions to the book... having read some of her HH stuff... it is top notch!!!

This book is quite good & is a decent addition to one's library. I enjoyed reading it & found it's content to be useful (not in my Top5 though but worth the money spent on it & something I'll read more than once.... btw... I read some of my books 5 & 6x over, which gives you a better idea of what I think of a book... on that note.. Daniel's book, I've just finished reading his section for the 2nd time & know I will read it a 3rd time at some point... probably not for awhile though & FOR SURE won't bother with any of the other sections in his book by the other authors.
KILL PHil and Kill Anyone
Personally I didn't really care for 'Kill Phil'. I've heard alot of good stuff about 'Kill Everyone w Elky supplement/addtion' and have had plans for purchasing it for awhile (maybe with Pokerstars FPP if I actually start playing on that site). I've heard a ton of good stuff about this book but then just recently I read some posts on 2+2 by online MTT regs. where they stated it's a novice player's book at best (this was disheartening to hear). It's moved down a notch on my 'books to buy' list but will still pick it up as I thoroughly enjoy reading poker theory/strategy stuff (even if alot of it is repetitious). What I mostly prefer is getting into the thinking of the player while they go over alot of key pts. in interesting spots in MTT play. For this reason, "Winning Poker Tournaments" is at the top of my list ('but' I'd for sure recommend anyone planning on reading these books (Vol.1 &2) to have at least read the HOH MTT series (Vol.1 & 2.... Vol.3 isn't really a required read imo... it's okay but imo some of the play is a bit outdated already... & today's players are getting more into the 'beyond Harrington' stuff (<< actually the name of an article that RIZEN wrote).
So there you have it. Hope that helps some.
For Casino MTT play it's a different story. Kill Everyone probably good for these, as well as stuff like Arnold Snyder's MTT books (Tournament Poker Formula ?? .. or something like that)... anyways it gets more into dealing with fast-structured tourneys (typical for cheap buyin MTT Casino play), where raising/isolating in position with a wider range is where you might want to go as there's no time to be sitting waiting for monster hands in early levels. Not an awesome read by any means (in my opinion) but some food for thought when dealing with that type of structure.Brad Booth - > "Like a fight... it's not how you start, it's how you finish"
