Pre-flop raises -- specifically cash games

HMM PLAYFUL DIDNT KNOW THAT ..5XS GETS THE BOTS OUT..PLAN ON DOING MUCH BUTTA ON FULL TILT AND UB..TY HUN ..WISH I CUD RATE THIS VERY USEFUL?

Ok so I am curious about pre-flop raise in a ring game.

My experience has shown that a 3xBB raise almost always gets called by someone and that 5xBB raise often can take down the blinds.

I am curious what people's thoughts are on this?

I'd say alot depends on the stakes. .10/.25PL raising 3x the BB will usually get called by most players on the table, 5x will get you 2 or 3 callers. 05/.10PL however you can be last to act and throw out a pot sized raise on a FR table and the whole table will call!!!

Completely agree that stakes are rarely brought into the discussion. The sophistication of your competition is a huge factor. Your preflop raises should have a desired result and you will only tailor it correctly if you know your opponents (relatively). The beauty is that you never "know", but you can give yourself information to work with on a hand to hand basis.
