Default What if we all start playin the same?

With all the books, websites, forums, and whatever place you can get poker strategy info, does anyone worry that everyone is beginning to use same strategy? If everyone is playing same basic starting hands, playing drawing type cards if they can get in cheap, being aggressive preflop with high pairs, etc. doesnt it then make luck a bigger factor. Just something I was thinking about.

Well there is more than one strategy. Even the pros don't all play the same.

There will always be fish and different bankrolls and those who play tight and those who play loose. Those who are more willing to gamble, etc.

Luck is always a factor short term.

do u play the same against a tight player and a loose player?? i wud assume no

My point then is the game continually will evolve or maybe go full circle if evry1 played the same at a table bar 1 person who adjusts his game accordingly he will win then naturally every1 re-adjusts and so on.

Even if everyone played the same strategy (which they do not because there are so many different ones), there would still be two factors in addition to luck that are 1) hand ranges, and 2) personal discipline.

Let's just say that your hand range does not include hands that can be easily dominated (KQo or KJo). Now consider you have been sitting at a table for 45 minutes to an hour and not seen a hand with two cards over T the whole time. Will you have the discipline to lay down KQo when it comes around?

I thought the same thing when i started out about 6 years ago.If everyone reads the same books won,t they just be CLONES or may as well be BOTS and then just Luck takes over.?I have never read a Poker book in my life.Maybe i should have. But i find the best schooling has been from actually playing.

    Default Nope...

I dont think that it is possible that eveyone will ever play the same. I have never read anybooks on poker. just ESPN and learning from other players ( live games ).

Betting and Quality of cards will always change with every hand.
