Why you count 4 outs of 9 for str8?

if a 9 hit in river it means shit for you, it will only give 10s 2h 5h Ks 9 [Ah Jh]
i don´t see you make any str8 with that.

MY bad i was dropping the cards at random I missed thought as I was doing this

OK so my outs for a staight is 4Q's 46-4=42 42:4 so that actually drop my % below the the % of money bet if 6 people stayed in the pot, SO I should fold this hand after the flop

Im trying to figure out if what I put up is right (I will recorrect the odds thing) for some reason I thought I was dropping another card.

IS THIS HOW I NEED TO RUN NUMBERS THROUGH MY HEAD every hand or am I messing up the odds of hitting a hand with my bet money

IT seems I would need 8 people to stay through the turn to make this worth while but before I can start incorporating actual other players and their chip stacks vs mine I GOT TO GET THIS STUFF right first.

HERE IS WHERE ITS ALL MIXING UP, I hit the straight I should bet right but do the odds say there was not enough money in the pot for me to bother

I hit the flush It is worth my money in the pot - I read the number and stuff in the books and just like position it all made sense until I it was pointed out Im doing it totally wrong.

DO i subdivide all my outs and get my % of hitting whatever is possible or do I count all my outs of hitting anything from the flop and decide from the flop % (OF TOTAL OUT TO MAKE ANY HAND ALL - OR THE SUBDIVIDED APPROACH like how I broke it up before). Do I look at what % will make my best hand and just use that as the top % number or all the outs together that will make any hand

Never mind this is just asking for trouble I just want to know if my example above is correct in what I should be thinking


WITH MY HAND ABOVE IF NO FLUSH OPPORTUNITY WAS PRESENT (turn one of those hearts into a spade) then I would fold this hand cuase its not worth my chips unless the whole 10 people (or whatever would = the money in the pot % to what is being put in)
