Okay let me start of by saying that this is yet another negative thread (rant) about Pokerstars, please feel free to direct your mouse to the top right hand corner of the window and click the x if you can’t take anymore.
There’s a ton of threads on every forum labeling Pokerstars as being rigged/fixed. I’d like to put them on the back burner and discuss what’s been going on lately.
Last weekend (I think it was last Saturday) I logged on, sat down, tried to post blind and lagged out. Okay, close program, restart, and try again. Same thing happens so I’m sitting there looking at the lobby wondering what my next move will be and I notice 80k+ players disappear from the site.
Today I log on, didn’t even have time to get on a table when 200k+ players mysteriously vanish from the site. I could only imagine the amount of min bet steals going on with the disconnected players and we’ll never know how much money was stolen.
I got to thinking, all of this could have been avoided if Pokerstars had the disconnection protection but as we know that was abolished due to abuse. I guess the people that lost their money are just up sh!t creek without a paddle, I feel bad for them but I’m also glad I’m not one of them. The current time allowed to reconnect is just enough for me to get back to the site and watch the other guy dragging my money.
So who benefits from abolishing disconnection protection (dp).
Well, my contention is most of the idiots that were abusing it can now be found on all the tables with a min buy in stack in front of them. They play super loose/aggressive and have all their chips in after the flop. So, I think it’s fair to say "we" didn’t benefit. We still have to put up with their sad donk plays just like before!!!
Having said that, I do understand that we get to play much more hands per hour, which is nice, but from a financial standpoint the biggest benefactor would be the house/rake.
I understand that Pokerstars is a service/business but it’s one that all the players pay for and therefore Pokerstars should be taking better care of it’s customers and equipment. I wouldn’t suggest calling them as saying "Hey, I pay your wages" but you know what I mean.
What are they using for a server? I’m going to guess it’s a ZX81 (Some of you older guys might remember those).
Pokerstars will offer no explanation or accept any liability, they prefer to blame the routers. This isn’t my first rodeo, I’ve seen the old point the finger at someone else routine before.
I took part in the record breaking tourny a while back, we’re all sitting there chatting and then it starts, well the cards were dealt out in slow motion and as soon as the action was on me Pokerstars crashed and I couldn’t get back on for over 2 hours.
I’m pretty disgusted with Pokerstars and I’m tired of having to cross my fingers and pray I don’t disconnect every-time I get in a hand.
Now if you’ve read this far I hope you understand what’s got my Tiltometer spewing. The natural response would be "Go play elsewhere" which is fine, I’m considering a move to Full Tilt. It’s a shame because it’s taken me a long time to build a bankroll large enough that I can move up to Silver Star status.
It would also be pointless if the same crap is happening on their site as well.
