Just interested if anyone has looked into this offering from Pokerstars.

It is probably BEST FOR BEGINNERS but it might be possible for others to pick up a few pointers. U.S. players can join but they couldn't play in the tournaments.

Don't like their Pokerschool Open Skill League (freeroll) because it gets 10000 entries - not my bag.

The Premier Skill League Qualifier only gets up to 200 entries but it requires a $1 buy-in + a ticket (may be the most attractive).

The Skill Leagues only have a $10 prize pool, so the only way to actually make money is to play games with a rake or fee in order to gain a lot of points, and also place well in the standings.

I have mixed feelings about this, especially when considering the recent developments - any other opinions??

I know of a few guys who regularly play in it. The 'skill league' actually has GREAT prizes on their leaderboard (monthly I think?). It's getting qualified that might be a pain in the azz though (they all qualified the first time it ran & did so via freerolls). Tried one or two myself but didn't have the patience for it.

There's some not too bad vids. there on PSO that you can view for free (some you need to have earned a certain # of vpps (or fpps?). Many of them are worth viewing.

There's also another promo thing there with PSO. There's a monthly $10 buyin with $1,000 added to it (it's actually running tomorrow 16:30est). They have satellites running every day of the month for it, some with a few seats added (50cent buyins, & $1 buyins, some freerolls (i think?) too.
The play in the monthly $1K added final is pretty horrendous (prob due to all the entrants who got there via satellites) but the extra cash in the prizepool does make it enticing. There's also a handful of decent micro MTT/SNG players in it too. (it's pretty much a minefield though... sort of like the OFC games.. but maybe a bit worse).

There's also a women's league on Stars these days. 4 games each day (2x 10cent, & 2x $1), each player can play 1 of each per day. There are leaderboard prizes in this league too. (guys are ineligible for prizes though obviously)

I played the PSO league for several months and qualified for the 1st premiership league.

Unfortunately Pokerstars really does not seem to know what it is trying to achieve with the leagues. It has changed the format, timings, FPP requirements, scoring and just about everything else over the last 4 months. The changes have been such that a lot of those who used to play have now left the leagues completely - myself included.

The PSO has really moved from a training resource to a cash cow. Everything to do with it is now designed to generate more revenue for Stars. I dont object to this as it is a business afterall but it really seemed to be another smack in the face to the regulars.
