Pokerstars payout percentages?

Lately it seems the payout/player is lower than it used to be on PS. For example, a few months ago, I remember seeing the average payout going to like 14-15-16% of the people registered (ex. 1500 players=210 places paid)

But lately I've noticed it seemed to have dropped to around 11-12% (ex. 1500 players=172 places paid).

That example may seem like an insignificant amount of places paid, but even as the registered users go up, the payout doesn't seem to.

Anyone have any insight?

Hi Tally.
Maybe Pokerstars restructured their payout structure so that there would be less places paid, but more $ for the places paid.
Personally, I do not remember the payouts being changed, but I have only been playing on Stars for a few months now.

I know know they use a 20% rule on prize pool but I just never figured out what percentage of players get paid. I wonder how thats figured out.
