Default Do you 3bet more in ring games?

I need to explore my stats, but I have found 3betting a more useful tool in rings games than tournaments.

Curious if anyone else has seen this as well, or if maybe I am not 3betting enough in tournaments?

    Thanks!

Not sure if that is real term or not, but placing a third bet into the pot during a single round.

what is 3 betting exactly? (also called 3-bet)

The big blind is the 1st bet (i.e. big blind is $1). Someone raises the big blind is the second bet(i.e. raises to $2). And a person raising the raise bet would be 3 betting(i.e. raises to $3).

I probably do this a lot more in a ring game because if I lose the bet, I can always refill my chips stack. This is unfortunately not available in a tournament unless you are in a rebuy, which I seldom enter. I was in a rebuy and add-on tourney tonight where I scored 7th place with 18 getting paid. Fourtunately I did not have to pay for any rebuys and I wasn't paying attention enough when it said click here for add-on.

    BOL in your poker journey.

Yeah, 3-betting is definitely more common in ring games. You're playing with deeper stacks than you are in tournaments, so that opens up your tool box to start using plays like 3-bet bluffing, or just generally not being committed to a showdown by 3-betting pre. I run around a 6% 3-bet in ring games, and I don't play many tournaments, but I'd imagine I'd run closer to 2.5% or so if I played a lot of tourneys since that is a pretty solid value only 3-betting range.

    cheers
