Scared money never wins.
I would of thrown out a 1/2 pot feeler bet on the flop and if somebody called then I'd bet the pot on the paired board. If they called again I'd shut it down on the river and probably fold to any bet.
If I'd played the way you did and the whole world saw that I was "scared" to bet my pair then I would of been throwing out some bluffs on the hands following this one.
Looks like you are playing way too passive (green fish). Step up the aggression and get a reputation for throwing out some bluffs, then you can get paid off on the hands when you're holding the nuts. I hope that makes sense.Last edited by Limey777; 05-22-2010 at 04:11 AM. Reason: kan't spel

With a shorten table (7 players) I would be raising pre-flop
(actually I don't see any case I would be limping with 99)
The Flop Betting .04-.06
There is some danger, the over card of course sticks out and so does the hearts.
I'd be tossing out a bet just to see where I was at. Not gonna get floated to many times here.
If 1 caller
The Turn Betting .10-.15
Now the board pairs is kinda scary but we need to throw another bet out to push off the flush draw and possibly a weak king.
I don't like a pot bet on the turn because if they have a hand they are not folding but could fold the river, we essentially bluffed ourselves by making the pot to big to bet at.
I would also re-evaluate your perception of what a scary board looks like, there is more "scary" then just the King over card. Board having 2 same suits, turn pairs the board. The only thing not scary is the board is not going to have a straight (from turn onwards)

Was probably a way to create your metagame image at the table.
Advices already posted sounds good to me so that i will have to muck on that one.

What i see wrong with the way u played this rob is that u didn't raise pre flop...apart from that not too bad ....however if no-one bets even with a K showing a feeler bet would be an idea.

DANG yall pulled up a thread from MAY, been here that long DAMN so now I relook at this hand and see what I would do today
99 I push in 3-4xbb push and be done with this hand
if called
flop = 83K I push in another 2/3 pot and be done with this hand
if called
Turn = 8 I call here and wait to see who is gonna put the hammer down on me
IF NO ONE DOES. BUT I dont know do I call here or put on even more pressure and push an almost pot size bet. But maybe the call would show too much strength
River - 5 Well this is what I have waited for to set up value for this moment. I gamble throw in the big bet and be done with this hand and I want to be called because either someone with king trapped me from the flop or I just made somebody give me more money, I would even go so far as to say if I get re-raised, then I push all in but I wouldnt be as confindent though.
SO IS THIS an improvement or I have totally lost my mindLast edited by Dan Abnormal; 09-04-2010 at 07:40 PM.
