Default proper bankroll and dont cash out too early

    hi

I would say that you definately should have correct bankroll for whatever the stakes are

and also just as importantly DONT cash out too much and take yourself below those levels ... otherwise you will forget and try to play the same levels with not enough bankroll rather than moving down again and building up

hope that makes sense - but I mean if you bankroll was ok for one level and you build bankroll up and move up in stakes ... then cash out too much of your profit ... remember that you started a stake or two lower on the original bankroll ...

otherwise playing at the levels you now feel comfortable at with 1/3 required bankroll by "accident" will however solid you are inevitably catch you out in a big way at some point

in terms of strategy - you need to be alot more prepared for mind games, "crazy" play & manovering ...

they will 3 bet and 4 bet you
    they will play position
they will play cleverly out of position

    they WONT play "textbook" poker

you will have to make some big calls and big commitments

you will also have to make some seemingly big laydowns

but IMHO most importantly you WILL have to be able to stand your ground ... and figure out when your just being pushed around ... and equally when your totally dominated in a hand

hope thats a help and gl

    cheers scrawnybob

What's considered a "proper bankroll" for ring games? I think I've heard that you should enter a game with the max allowed, or ~100x the big blind, and then your bankroll should be at least 10x your buy-in.

Also curious as to some of the specific strategies to ring games. Playing mostly tournaments myself, I think my "survivalist" instinct is ingrained into my game too much and I allow myself to get bluffed off too many hands in ring games.

    Default 20 times

    hi

I would say 20x the max buy-in for cash ring games or 20x for playing SNG's

you might be able to get away with 10 times if your lucky and already consistent but if thats what you start out with be ready to have to re-deposit with the other 10x max buy-in

and also build up to have 20x max buy-in to stay safely at that limit ... for moving up you must have 20x the higher limit ready BEFORE you move up (ie. dont do only 10x for a move up)

for MTT's then 20x buy-in is IMHO optomistic as there is much more variance - you might win the first one or you might just scrape the cash on the 20th one ... so I would think 40x buy-in is safer for bigger field MTT'S

there's a bit more here ... Bankroll Management

    cheers scrawnybob
