Patience is a characteristic too many players overlook, don’t make the same mistakes as others, think ahead and be smart about it.

This kind of stuff is common because you are expected to support your clan or team but i don't think people who have money to burn think about those of us that don't. For instance they should keep the buy ins as low as possible, especially those that have multiple games a week. I was really hacked off for instance when my clan was binned recently without any consultation with me as a member,or even any warning. For weeks i've been stumping up cash for the games when i would rather not have and then they say "oh we're shutting up shop". Bang out of order i think. So now i'm just going to play the games I want to and stick to no more than 3 or four private tourneys a week. With no clan games to pay out for i'm hoping to join a team here soon fingers crossed one thats got a bit more longevity in mind that my clan had.

I've also come to realise that the time it takes to play in the MTTs you could have played several SnGs and have better prospects at cashing. Its an ongoing dilemma - a few of which exist whilst playing poker on a small bankroll. I constantly ask myself is this just about money. I enjoy playing a great deal but this gives me a bit of a negative ev i think because i'm not as driven as those who just want the money and are totally focussed on that.I don't have that killer edge that's sometimes required - you all know how cruel a game it can be.

So at the moment i'm playing more SnGs to top up the bankroll and having a couple of grinding sessions in MTTs to keep the pleasure principle going as i much prefer tourneys.
In SnGs i have one hard and fast rule which is not to play hard until at least 2 people have been knocked out. If i get a premium hand in good position i'll try to get to see the flop as cheaply as possible and play the hand accordingly but all other hands are folded.

I'm far from an aggressive player but i've found patience plus watching other players and the cards they play allows me to get the best from my cards when i've got a good hand and then i don't need aggression. Having an aggressive player play at me when i have the goods is a beautiful moment and i only wish i could see their faces when they go out second to my first. it'd have to be something like this or . lol be sure for me its

I know what you mean, Warrior. I too joined several different teams/forums with regular games and found that I was losing a lot of my hard earned site monies. If I go broke, I have to start climbing my way back up the freeroll ladder since I don't deposit.

I found that although I really liked the smaller privater tournies, usually only $1 or so to enter, it is a lot harder to make it to the money. In the private tournies, there are a lot of good players and often payout is only to the top 3.

I now stick to 4king for most of my private games. The fun people and higher skill level here makes 4king games a lot more fulfilling and even if I don't make the money, I like trying to at least make points for my team.

You are right Momma, however, i find that playing this games improve your game a lot, so i think is a great idea to stay with some private games and mixed with open games.
