Do any of you use the SAGE system for SnG/FT HU ?
I came across something called the Sit And Go Endgame - or SAGE - system when researching SnG strategy. I would like to know if any of you guys use this, and if so, if you believe it to be effective ?
SAGE is a form of equilibrium betting, whereby for certain cards and stack sizes it makes sense to either shove all in or fold. If the opponent does not act in a certain way, he will be off equilibrium, and therefore mathematically guaranteed to be -EV. When going after Steps overnight, I have encountered HU NL for the first time, and would like to know if this actually works...

Hmmmm, never heard of SAGE, my sng strategy is to play only premium hands and consider making the money to be top priority. get me to 3rd, then I'll get really aggressive and go for 1st.

i have seen the sage system before.
i dont use it to the letter but probably play a similar strategy when HU.
I think it works best when you are up against a good player, against weaker players it may be advisable to pass on some +EV situations as you can find bigger +EV situations later.
If you have little experience playing HU then you should use sage.
So to answer your question: YES it works.

Yah, I agree here w Jonny 100% (as usual it seems).
Generally speaking in SNG's when you reach HU if you're playing a Turbo format the blinds will be HUGE and you should basically be shoving from SB a large percentage of your hands (sometimes even 100%.. but it depends of course, lol).
If it's a reg. speed SNG then something to use as a general principle for playing HU is, if your opponent is playing too tight, then you should be raising from SB alot!! If stacks are still fairly deep, what I tend to do is to train my opponent (the first bit of play is really just jostling around a bit, leading villain to believe I play a certain way when in fact I'm setting them up for the kill). Basically you're waiting for a situation where all the chips are going in anyways. (if you interested in a bit more detailed late stage HU sng play I could write a bit about it for ya.... but if it's just mainly to know if folks use SAGE then my answer is, "yes".. but it depends, lol).Brad Booth - > "Like a fight... it's not how you start, it's how you finish"
