    Default DU Hand Selection

Ok I'm talkin bout 10 player double up tournaments. We are in the middle stages blinds making differences but still 1/10 of stackish. Small and middle pairs? AJ A10 what are you doing with these hands??

    Thoughts?

Depending on the stacks to play after me i'm pushing with any pair or big A if i've got 10-12 BBs
I'm wanting similar sized stacks to be more worried about surviving than racing
If i get called by a better hand so be it

DUs are a funny beast. If you are partway in, important questions to ask:

    1) Where I am in stack size?
    2) How much of my stack can I risk and not lose position?
    3) How far am I willing to go with this hand?
    4) Am I in position to make an attempt at clean steal?

    Answers:
    1) If 1st and good chips, I would fold these hands. It is not my job to knock people out. I can afford to be picky and wait for premium hands.

    2) Sometimes all the stacks are close and you are going to need to win a hand or two. Sometimes they are more spread out and the person behind you is quite a ways back. If I could lose position playing these hands, I probably fold. However, if I do not risk position and gain chips, I probably play them hoping to hit the flop and push or fold.

    3) DUs always seem to be fast paced with large bets. So i might pre-flop raise with a big A, but if someone comes over the top, am I willing to push it all in? Not with AQ or AJ most likely. Unless of course I need the hand, or the person is a known crazy. Worst thing in a DU is to play AJ and be dominated and then get QQ or KK the next hand. I have to like a hand quite a bit to put chips in the middle since a lot of hands can go all the way.

    4) These hands are a lot better in position for a steal. Especially if the table has not shown any trappers. If this is the case, I go with the push and try to take the blinds. Like the other poster said, if I get called so be it.

    good luck at the tables.

    Default sng double up

I play sng double up at players only

i just recently joined there...i like to play the horses so when i won soem $ i tried their poker room.

My statigy for snd DU is wait wait wait for the right time the right postion and the right cards....

Basically all you have to do is....DOUBLE UP maybe thats why its called double up? of course thats not why its called du but same reason thats all you have to do.

10 player tabler 1500 chips you need 5 to lose once you du your stack ...you did your job you got 1 out or howver u did it....now can you just sit back and be a railbird?

you have to!! dont be tempted to play nothing less then AA KK...or AK if late postion and no action.

This is my stratigy...and ive proberly won 9/12 DU's so far there. Ihave't played much there but its pretty nice.

Fullt tilt doesnt offer DU sngs thats where i mainly play.

It is partially player read dependent (and of course position) how many left, stack sizes, etc. and it's shove or fold...but > 'depends' (most likely shove if in CO BTN and 100% in SB).

I've got a bunch of DoN articles on my other puter. Perhaps I should dig some up if there's enough interest here on the forum? (I also have a decent collection of training vids. for DoN's)

Position & player dependent as well (if you're playing 10+ tables at a time... more difficult with the player reads obv, lol). I'm more apt. to shove lighter into a reg. than a random (random's will call down lighter & incorrectly).

I would have to see where i am at chip wise at the time this hand becomes mine, if i am in first or second i may fold but if i'm like 3rd thru 7th i may call and if i'm at the tail end of the dog i probably shove all in.It also depends on what others around me do and have been doing throughout the game nah mean.

I usually would do an all in if I was the Dealer, Big Blind or Small Blind. Any other position I would fold.
I hate wasting my time spending money on two mediocre cards except when I am a blind just to see if I can hit something on the flop.
