    Default How do you play on tight tables

    I have found I have success more often if I play very tight early in sit n go's. Only play top few hands until 2 or 3 are eliminated, then pick some spots to try and keep my stack up and finally get a little agg. as bubble approaches. This works best when there are some loose, aggressive, and just plain stupid players on the table. My question is what do you do when, which I am finding quite often, the whole table plays this way. I've tried playing looser (if thats a word) but usually ends in me being that early player out. Trying to just stick to the plan and just do it better than others, just gets tough when there's 9 players left and we all only have 8 - 10 blinds left.

    Since I've never found a sng where the whole table plays that way, this is not from experience, but sounds to me that you could open up your range, put on a ski mask and start stealing.

    Seems like the low turbos is where I find this most often (6 dollar table on FT). The normal ones some people eventually run out of patience, but the turbos, this seems to be the strategy a lot and the blinds move quickly so before you know it, most are down to 10 or less blinds. Also find a lot of people are willing to play with only few blinds (not just shove), even min raise when a 4 blind raise would put em allin. Sometimes even seeing these super SS's (1-4 blinds) comeback and even cash. Don't know if letting yourself get this low is a good strategy over long haul, but who knows. As far as stealing, seems like when I do this around the third or fourth time, with blinds just starting to go up, I'll maybe raise a little pre flop then try to value bet bluff if I miss, and everytime they reraise allin, and then I'm too SS'd to keep tryin. Think I have to hit a nice hand early which goes to showdown, with me just small value betting, then they see me playing a big hand that way, then the bluffs work later.

    When the chips are low and people say ya gotta go -don't

    If your playing turbo or super turbo, I'd watch the clock more then anything, specially if the table is playing tight then you want to pass the new blind levels onto someone else.

    Sometimes the best move in playing poker, is not playing.

    errr.. umm.. 'strongly disagree'.

    Pretty much the worst thing you can do is to let yourself blind down. If you do, you'll have to wait til' you get a good hand to shove with because you'll have very little (if any) fold equity.
    You want to look into what range of hands are +EV to shove with from the diff. positions, depending upon stack sizes & ur own stack size. ie. I'd have no qualms of shoving with 97s otb & near ATC in SBvBB if stacks are 8-10bb's around the table & it's been folded to us on BTN or SB.
    Try google searching for a 'shove chart'. If you're unable to find one, I could set you up with one that I obtained from an excellent SNG coach. (Matt Glitlr).

    {perhaps I'll post a few examples in another post after this one}

    You obviously do not play enough Turbo or Super Turbo SnG's to have an experience opinion Poker Orifice. With clock management you can force people all-in by not playing and still have the same amount of chips.

    I understand what Assistance is talking about.If your in a position where the Blinds are going to go up right after your play and most have 8-10 BB or less.It will force them to make a move/chance like Pushing a mediocre hand before uou and risk getting knocked out.
    However PO doesn,t play to survive/place he plays to win.So his opinion is to PUSH it and go for the Win.He will less than you may Place but which plan will give you the most ROI in the long run. ??

    Hey PO, i wouldn't mind if you set me up with 1 of those shove charts.Also this will sound very stupid to the people here but it is what it is and i have no shame in my game so here it goes: what exactly is "fold equity"....i know it means that you have a good reason or value to fold a hand right ? If someone could enlighten a dumb ass like myself who doesn't know all the politicaly correct poker terminology i would appreciate it
