    Talking Yankees Go Shopping

Yankee are trying to buy another pennant or if that doesn't work out perhaps get in line for a federally assisted bailout, LOL. The Yankees agreed to terms on a seven-year, $161 million contract with CC Sabathia earlier this week. Then, the Yankees have reached preliminary agreement with AJ Burnette on a five-year, $82.5 million contract. ESPN reported that the Yankees are in the market for another front line starting pitcher. Will this oft-repeated NY buying splurge bring them a world championship or will it just end up blowing up in their faces as most of their other recent off-season sprees have done. Being a Red Sox, I must admit these appear to be very good moves. What's your view?

The Yankees did spend a ton on these two guys, and it's true that their payroll is actually LOWER than it was last year at this point, but they still have the top payroll in MLB. Even though the Yankees haven't won it all in several years now, the system is set up so that they'll contend every year. Without a salary cap, they can just throw money at their mistakes whereas most teams can't do that. Most other teams that needed to fill 3/5 of their rotation wouldn't be able to contend this year - the Yankees can just go and sign the top two FA SPs.

Baseball needs a salary cap in the worst way.

The Yankees will need a bailout. The city of NY is having financial problems and will be cutting back on social services. Citizens will not be filling Yankee stadium in a few years.

Whatever happened to the phrase "for the love of the game" - it doesn't exist anymore due to all sports teams and players being grossly overpaid, especially since we are in a depression.
Being a Bluejays fan, A.J. Burnett is not worth more than the Doc and it will be interesting to see how he handles the boo-birds of the new Yankee Stadium (if he can).
Considering the amount of money the Yankee organization has paid out in recent years, and with poor results, the fans have not received their money's worth.
With Cito at the helm for a FULL season, watch out for the Jays.

A mistake made in the past is not as important as the lesson learned from it.

Im so sick of the damn Yankees and their spending. You saw what a real team can do this year. The Tampa Bay Rays with the 2nd lowest or lowest payroll went to the World Series............enuff said!!!

With the way the Yankees spend money, you would think they would never lose a game.

Let alone not go to the playoffs or miss the playoffs. The yankees suck, they will continue to buy top name players who will suck as well.

    Its a never ending trend.
