Brief History:
NFL wide receiver Dante Stallworth, who was in a tragic accident that took the life of pedestrian Mario Reyes. Stallworth was intoxicated and behind the wheel of his car when it struck Mr. Reyes while on his way home from work.
The Plea Deal:
Stallworth plead guilty of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
He received 30 days in jail, 2 years house arrest, 8 years probation, life time suspension of his drivers license (in 5 years Stallworth can appeal to get license back on a restricted basis)
and 1000 hours of community service.
Also included in the plea deal was a monetary settlement to the family of Mr. Reyes of an undisclosed amount.
My Take:
I personally find this to be a 100% slap on the wrist and a complete miscarriage of justice considering that a human life was taken at the hands of drunk driver. Stallworth's blood alcohol content was .012 which is .04 over the legal limit.
The moral of this story is that the deeper your pockets, the more you can get away with.
This case is proof positive which by the way angers me to no end.![]()
