    Default Soccar (football) question

THis is the first year I have watched any soccar games full and I have some ideas and tell me If Im stupid or its good

Now I havent looked at the yardage and field sizes and stuff but, Soccar is rather boring and the biggest scoring opportunities are a throw in and a headbut to score (SO ya cant really say football in all foot action)

HOW BIG IS THE FIELD is it as big as a football field.

THe action needs to be more action oreinted and the length of the field and the amount of times scores happen is the problem. What if they reduced the field size by 1/3rd and that way you have more team action towards each goalie. IT seems its just a non stop kick athon and gets old quick. (HEY IM TRYING TO LIKE IT BUT REALLY NOW) The action is when you finally get to the goalie,

Narrow the actual field and make the field 1/3 of the size, you might disagree but if the best scoring opportunities is a throw in headbutt (NO) make the action on the players and narrow the field not a throw in.

It's the most popular game in the world, I rather doubt folks will take too kindly to radical changes just because it's not a game most folks in the USA think is great.

    Just saying..

Football (soccer) is my favourite sport in the whole wide world.

I have watched and played it for years, and so, I know it very well.

Give it a chance Dan and maybe you will get to appreciate the skill involved.

The World Cup this year hasn't been brilliant so far, with no outstanding games or great goals.

The action will heat up soon I am sure.

As for changing the length of the pitch, that's not gonna happen.

There is a certain amount of space required to play a proper game of football and the pitches they use these days are just about perfect for 11 a side.

it would be more action with smaller pitch as is 5/6 aside when on much smaller pitches but u dont want 8 / 9 goalsa a game it wouldnt ruin the jubilant feeling when ur team score like basketball when ur team sciores its hardly worth getting excited about when they do it 50 times a game.

what our game needs is either video replay or if they dont like that fifa need to take action against simulation / cheats, failing wanting to do that they need to get referees to take action against what they actually see.....if a referee EVER books a player without seeing a incident he should be INSTANTLY banned and the club / country he has cheated should sue his a*s as it not a mistake its a fundamental prob with another weak referee

Yes Im giving the game a chance, I dont hate it by any means cause those dudes are in shape to do all that running. Once I figure out how they set themselves up for different plays I will probably understand the game more. Its funny that you say a 8-9 score would ruin the game and the people I talk to think thats what the problem is - a 90 minute game with only 1 or 2 scores. I guess we are just high score oriented here, its the same reason I have trouble watching baseball. But I will admit when the action gets near the goalie it does get exciting. But like i said this this is my first year of actually watching games

I think that the problem for me is that teams around the world start off playing for the tie rather then winning. If they score a goal in the process well then thats all the much better. I personally don't see why you would play a game where the start of the game is not about outright winning but rather winning if we can not expose our goal too much? I do realize that it is the most popular game in the world, as far as organized sports go but for me its way to defensive to watch more than the occasional game

Search the internet and watch some games of the top leagues from England, Scotland, Germany, Spain or Italy (I say these countries because I can watch their games all the time) or watch some of the Champions League games. Alternatively watch games from Brazil, Argentina or Mexico. As someone else commented the World Cup games haven't been that good especially if you watched England

    Exactly what Neil post.

For people that never follow soccer and start watching the world cup is not a good thing, first round you need points to go ahead, so teams play the points more than the games.

At this point games become better because is 1 game and need to win to go on but also because is only 1 game teams are more careful, so this games are for fans or people that know the game or teams.

But worldcup is not a good show to get new fans, for that need to do what neil comment, watch the best leagues, in leagues is not only 1 game is a season, so teams play open and you can see more action/fun games, a better show in all way.

Even bad leagues like Usa MLS are fun to watch, lol, maybe not that but you get the point

And Worldcup is only one time every 4 years, but when is no worldcup we have a league that runs 2 seasons in the year, most games are on tv every weekend, and when not see our own leagues we see other countries leagues, (like neil comment Spain, England and Germany are the best) also are other cups like cup America for the continent (Eurocup in case of Europe UEFA), so football is not a every 4 year thing.

The true is that not all can enjoy the game, some will like it some will hate it, pretty much is like any sport, you like it or not, there is no need to change anything to make it "more fun", if not like it, donīt see it, not because the world love it you need too.

For some will be a borring game, for others will be like Phill in poker, "for you is just a game, for me is my life".

And like NBA slogan, i love this game

I gotta watch it some more, I guess non world cup stuff, Once I know what Im looking for like how the players set up (I guess I compare soccer to ice hockey) how they can get 2 on 1 towards the goalies and stuff and then I will probably like it more. I cant say I havent enjoyed the games I watched just dont get how the ref decides the OT times and but I guess if you wait for first score in OT, games could go on for a long time LOL

    Extra Time is fairly easy.

In the game the clock should never stop, so at times when there is an injury or where a substitution is made the Ref will add time. He generally does this by stopping his watch when there is an injury and adding a fixed amount of time for every substitution. He will also add time at his discretion if a team is deliberately wasting time to gain an advantage. This amount of time added is signalled by the 4th official at the end of each half.

In a tournament like the World Cup games have to have a result. So if the game is a draw at the end of 90 minutes Extra time is added. Now days it is 2 periods of 15 minutes. If either team is ahead at the end of this the game is over. If it is still a draw then it is decided on the dreaded penalties.

    Hope this helps
