Post Olympic games in China

What do you guys think about those coming soon games.
As far as i'm concerned, i think that sport and sports men are not anymore defending good behaviors. All is a money business and cheaters are everywhere using drugs.
Is that what we looking for?

Yep it's because we are probably in 2008, I mean if we were in 1965 there's no way that those things happen.

I don't like how everyone is trying to use this oppurtunity to try and push their economic and political beliefs upon eachother.

Let it be a sporting event. If you don't like how they run things, then do it through the proper channels - start a protest, bomb their cities .etc just let us have a break from politics once in a while.

As for drugs, I'm undecided. Where do you draw the line between something which is illegal and what's not?

It might be easier, fairer and make for a better games if all substances were legal. After all, who has a right to regulate how they train?

Hopefully there is not a doping scandel coming out of the summer games. I also hope that the conditions are favorable for the athletes to compete with the dirty air in China.

Thumbs down Dopes

If any athlete going to the games wants to chance their luck that drugs will improve their odds of winning their event, then not only should they be stripped of any medal they win, but a LIFETIME ban in competing at any level, their name and ALL previous times stricken from the record books, and any winnings achieved be repaid back - might just, but probably won't, persuade someone thinking they need to extra help from drugs from being tempted.

Performance drug manufacturers are always going to be sufficiently ahead of the abilities of being able to test and detect the drugs users, but once a drug is known to be in the market, labs will be able to design tests and at what levels should be considered illegal (if it's a naturally occuring drug in the body). At best, the ability to use a new drug without detection is maybe only 1 year.

Another thing not taken into consideration are the long-term effects of the drug. Manufacturers don't have the time to determine any ill-health effects in 5, 10 or 20 years time after using it. AND, I guess, they aren't bothered!

Short term glory overrides any long term risks for dopers I guess. Feel awful for individuals who lose their medals that they worked so hard for because one of their teammates doped. Hopefully, the IOC will be able to crack down on preformance enhancers.

Default Olympic games have always been about politics

Lets face facts modern day olympics is a stage for pride in country and who is best. With that come cheating by using performance enhancers. Some would say let athletes use anything they want. Well that may not hurt the current athletic records but what about the men and women who's record they broke that did not use drugs. I say keep drugs out of sports and the playing field will be even. Another pet pive of mine is the use of professional athletes in the olympics. It needs to go back to amatuers. Non-professional in that sport. Use football players in the winter olympics fine, but not pro Basketball Baseball Hockey players in the same sport as the olympic game event. We have taken National Pride to far, let the pure amatuer athlete compete.

The only reason I'd play is to represent my country to say that we are the best a particular sport.

In regards to the upcoming Olympic Games in China, terrorism is more of a threat than athletes using drugs.
There will be plenty of surveillance cameras and security operatives everywhere. Hopefully, everyone will just play nicely together.
