Default Copa Libertadores (American Cup like Champions league)

Playing quarters final this week (away matches).
Last week Boca Jrs tied 2-2 against Atlas of Mexico playing in "La bombonera".
Everybody thought that was the end of the argentinian team, but today Boca Jrs gave a beating at home to Atlas, winning 0-3 and reaching semifinals again.

does anybody like south american soccer like me?

Hi luzipher,

don't get much opportunity to watch SA football in the UK. We just about manage to see short highlights on early morning sport programmes, but mainly it's the english leagues and italian games. There are very few supporters of, say, Boca Jrs, in the UK and so SKY and the terrestrial channels don't show much unless it's the final, but then it would be shown at completely unsociable hours to european viewers.

According to the tournament chart, Boca Jrs and Fluminense will have to see their faces, and the other semi-final will be LDU (Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito) against America of Mexico.

Only Boca (of those teams) have experience playing finals so we'll have a brand new finalist in that edition.

I will keep you informed.

Yesterday: América-MEX (1) vs. LDU Quito (1).
A great result for the ecuatorian team. A tie, and an away goal...

Today is the first match from the other semi-final in Buenos Aires:

Boca Jrs vs. Fluminense

I think will be a close match, and won't be easy for the argentinian team.

P.S.: the referee will be Silvera, Roberto (URU)

Finally Fluminense got a excelent result from Buenos Aires.
Boca Jrs 2 - Fluminense 2

With two goals away and a tie, Fluminense is favourite to classify next week to the final.

Finally the final will be between LDU and Fluminense.
Yesterday Fluminense defeated Boca Jrs in the Maracaná (3-1)

LDU and America tied 0-0, and thanks to the away goal that LDU had, qualified to the final.

Will be an unprecedented champion in this edition, both teams reach their first final.

I think the favorite here is Fluminense.

Finally LDU Quito wins the cup!
It is the first time that an Ecuadorian team wins the maximum continental competition and will play the World Cup of Clubs.

The team coached by Argentinean Edgardo Bauza became strong in the penalty shoot out definition, after losing 3 to 1 in the 120 minutes of play, and supported by the great catches of its experienced goalkeeper José Cevallos, became champion of the Santander Libertadores Cup for the first time in its history.

Congrats to all the people of Ecuador for this historical triumph!
