Default UFC question

What happened to Mirko Crocop?? He lost a match and I haven't heard of him since. Does anyone know if he has an upcoming match?

I'm a huge fan of the UFC. Now that you mention it, I haven't heard from him in awhile either. Haven't heard of him in any up and comeing fights either. Maybe he took his loss hard and went to a training camp for awhile. I'm not sure, but I would like to see him in the ring again as well.

Here's some info on CroCop...How can you be a MMA fan and not know where CroCop is?....Is shocking to me

Written for MMANews.com

The producers of DREAM, the new Japanese MMA promotion borne out of the ashes of PRIDE and K-1 HERO'S, have set forth their "dream" match for the annual end-of-year fight festival known as Dynamite: a rematch between former PRIDE aces Fedor Emelianenko and Mirko "CroCop" Filipovic.

CroCop fought most recently at the inaugural DREAM event, easily dispatching Pancrase veteran Tatsuya Mizuno via TKO in a mere 56 seconds. Emelianenko's last fight occurred at the Yarennoka New Year's Eve show, where he submitted 7'2" K-1 giant Hong Man Choi via arm bar in the opening round. Both matches were held at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, the former "home court" of PRIDE FC.

While the DREAM producers are excited at the opportunity to stage a rematch of one of the biggest PRIDE fights ever, the bout would be contingent on the success of each fighter during the interim. A source indicates that both Emelianenko and Filipovic are expected to compete at least once more for DREAM in the meantime.

Their original contest, staged at PRIDE - Final Conflict in August of 2005, became one of the most talked about MMA fights in history, as Emelianenko was able to back down the K-1 veteran with impressive striking, and apply his superior ground game en route to a unanimous decision victory.

After CroCop bounced back to capture the 2006 PRIDE Open Weight Grand Prix Championship, many expected he would be granted a rematch with Fedor in PRIDE. But the Croatian Sensation would surprise the MMA world by being one of the first top PRIDE fighters to cross over to the UFC.

On a Japanese TV special previewing the DREAM.1 event, Emelianenko was touted as one of the elite stars of the new promotion. CroCop appeared in a brief interview segment where he expressed his desire to reclaim his place among the top MMA heavyweights in the world and earn a second shot at Fedor, after his disappointing 1-2 run in the UFC.

Here is the most up to date info on CroCop.My personal opinion is he should throw in the towel......

The biggest headline came just this morning and was not a positive one, as it was revealed that Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic has now been completely scratched from the July 21st DREAM card. Originally slated to face kickboxer Jerome Le Banner in an MMA rules match, and then "Mighty Mo" Siliga after Le Banner instead chose to partake in a K-1 championship bout against Semmy Schilt, Filipovic revealed on his blog today that he has opted to rehab a knee injury and undergo arthoscopic surgery on his apparently long-ailing right elbow after learning that Siliga too would withdraw.

Said by Cro Cop:

My goal is to become the first heavyweight champion in DREAM and to do that I need to be ready to fight on September 23 [when DREAM.6 is scheduled to take place]. I'm not interested in summer time, vacations or things like that; I'll focus on getting back to shape and hopefully I'll fight in September. I would really like to fight Alistair Overeem, we all know why and I won't let it go. My career is far from being over, I'll be fighting some strong competitors soon again and hopefully I'll meet Fedor in the ring once more in 2009.

Here is his blog too MMA-ID: MMA Profiles, MMA Videos, MMA News | CROCOP

These UFC fighters really have short shelf lives. Only the best of the best can stick around for more than 5 years or so. There is always somebody younger and better on the horizon

Maybe he will recover from the surgery and kick ass like he used to. His matches were always exciting because you never knew when that kick was coming in to the temple.

Holy shizzle, Silvia is big, but can he take Fedor? I am not that familiar with his skills. Fedor is a beast.

I am a fan of Crocop but I think it will be hard to get back to where he was.

Did anyone catch the Forest Griffin vs Rampage fight? I won $100 on that one!
