Default Aaron rodgers or Brett Favre

I have to say before the season started i thought Completely getting rid of favre the way GB did was crazy. I figured they must've seen something in "A-rod" or they wouldn't just abandon any hopes of bringing back Favre. The more I see this guy play the more I think the Packers have done the right thing. Am I the only one who thinks so?

no rodgers is definately the future of the franchise and by not giving the reigns to rodgers after favre first retired we lose a lot of respect in the packers organization. they made the right move and rodgers has rewarded them with exceptional play

I think the move was great for both the Packers and the Jets. Favre's leadership skills are making the Jets a better team overall. Rodgers is obviously playing like the quarterback of the future in Green Bay. At first I wasn't sure that Aaron would be quite this good, but he proved me wrong.

WTF? Thanx for your input on gold, because that was integral in the spirit of this thread. Ok then so like we were saying I would build a team around Rodgers and rebuild around Favre.

if farve said he wasnt going to retire than that would have been an easy call. but they spent the whole off season preparing for rogers and then farve wants to come back. if it was me i would have taken him back. shoot they had the best record in the NFC last year. but i can see where the packers organization is coming from they are just like obama, its time for change

    Default How things change

When i started this thread Favre wasn't on a 5 game winnig streak. Today Arod and crew destroyed da bears (and with the vikings losing to tampa) created a 3-way tie for the lead of the NFC North division. The biggest difference for me is that Favre has turned a losing team into a winning contender and Arod has taken the reigns of a team that was already 1 game away from the super bowl last year and turned them into a 500% team. There is alot of football left to be played and we will have to see what the records show at the end, but right now Favre looks like he is getting comfortable in NY Green and it really shows.

Years ago they actually contemplated changing the name of Green Bay to Favre Town. He is a Packer legend that owns that team and has earned the right to do whatever he wants. If they brought him back again this year, the Packers are 8-3 or better and have a nice cushion in that division and not 5-6. Rodgers will be good though. The only reason that it might have been a good move is that Rodger's contract is up after this season. If they kept Favre and he didn't want to play next year, they would have to resign Rodgers at a starter's salary without even seeing if he is even starter quality. This year is his tryout for big contract, so in that sense it makes sense. But they are still throwing away a season that could have been another superbowl run with Favre. That team was 13-3 last year and have made very little personal changes except for at quarterback. I think the fans would rather have another go at it this year instead of building for the future. Life is short and so are NFL careers, especially peaking careers. The the time to win is now, not the future. The future is now.
