Default Sitting out at Tournament table.

I was in a tournament last night and when we get to the last table one guy leaves the table and never comes back. He ends forth or better, I went out in fifth place. Isn't there rules against people sitting out? I was so mad...

    Any thoughts on this?

    Default Rules

I don't know of any rules about someone setting out. Things do happen that could keep him from continuing I guess. If you find out any rule on it let us know. Good luck at the tables.

Unfortunately i don't believe there is any rule against any player sitting out. Sorry maxie08.

I am not a man of memory and cant even remember yesterdays but i watched this WPT television programme a while ago (some final table) , and there was this guy dont remember the name off course and his story was: He actually thought he was playing the next day, and accidentely came to check something at the casino... and surprise the game is running a few hours already. starting deep stacks were 50,000 each.
slowly but steadily he built his chipstack and his way to the final table where the big money was .

there aren't official rules against sit-outs as far as i know.

    Cheers

Nope. And there shouldn't be. No different than if he wasn't sitting out and folded every hand. If you can't outlast the sitter that's not his problem it's your's.

I'm not sure i'd put itquite like that but you are right. Sometimes being blinded away is a good tactic. Also other thing go on so if you've worked hard and got to th efinal table and have to leave..you should get something for it.

If they made a rule against sitting out, then Id have to quit playing. To many times the powers went out during storms, hoping i had chips left when it came on. I had to leave games to pick up family members, etc

Sorry you busted out before the sitter, welcome to poker

Nope, no rules about it. I have also seen Phil Hellmuth not show on the first day of the WSOP main event.

    Default setting out

I would rather go for first than settle for 4th, but there are no rules saying you can't set out.
