    Default Those darn poket aces

I am a little sceptical about going all in with poket aces. So many times I got sucked in with these two cards..... Now I think twice about going all in when a player goes all in after the flop..... especially if there is a pair showing

No need a pair on the board to slow down the action, 2 pairs are enough to beat your AA, so it might be easier to call it when you isolated your opponent preflop.

Ok so what your saying basically is, its better to go all in pre flop, or not at all?

    I would agree with this!

Pocket AA is the best hand pre-flop. But going all in pre-flop with AA is suicide in my book. I think you need to first think position, how many might see the flop. If your on the button and all has folded before you then you have only the blinds to battle against. Even then i would not go all-in, hit them hard 4-5x the BB sending a message of strength. Then you must also have the discipline to fold them pesky AA under certain circumstances. After the flop AA is just another hand.

Default AA make the play preflop

    hi

yep I would agree - you need to make the play / get the action / cut to one opponent PREFLOP

once the flop comes down - there is no need for a pair on the board to mean your aces are in trouble

any 3 cards could have you beat - if preflop you raised the pot sufficently to mean that mostly only PP would have called then any of those players could have made trips on the flop - from any ragged flop

    10-10 hits a 10

    2-2 hits a 2

both are well ahead of you - this is why you want to have made the play preflop - that doesnt mean you must raise 4xBB or whatever preflop any position but it means in early position with AA you must be certain that you have aggressive players in late position who WILL raise - then you can re-raise as needed to isolate ONE player

if you cant be sure of this happening (or your in late position) with lots of limpers before you then you need to make a bet that will push all but one player out preflop AND make the pot big enough preflop for that player to be playing a serious big PP

that way you can be more sure that unless you see a K, Q or J flop your less likely to have come up against trips

OR be aware you could be up against ONE total numpty who will call with K 10, KQ etc or PP down to 22

in this case if the flop has no Ace then you have to face up to slowing down and looking at their bets

simply AA is the strongest hand preflop but can be easily taken over after the flop / turn / river ... make the play preflop and then I would be tempted not to stoke the pot too much after that - unless you can put them on a draw (straight / flush) from a suited or running flop

    hope thats a help

definately DONT leave it until the flop to make action with AA

    cheers scrawnybob
