Texas Hold em Luck or Skill

I have been plying poker for close to 20 years from 7 card to stud and every crazy drunken home game in the world i started playing in casinos 10 years ago and you where hard pressed to find any cards rooms. my complaint is the suck out freindlyness of hold em.

in a game like 7 card or even omaha it seems you can better defend your cards all some fool in holdem game has to do is go all in and wish

However i dont mind getting suck out i just get tired of the low skill i see alot now

I truly believe the name of the game is having enough skill to stick around long enough for the luck to hit. I'm finding that more and more the way to go is with a tight/aggressive behavior....folding a LOT of hands and aggressively raising the ones that I play.....and I personally have better luck with this type of play at limit tables....I just haven't honed it well at the the no limit tables yet....

as a fairly new player ... i its more skill. The improvement i've seen in my own game - pot odds, pressuring others, how far you can push folk, ...all that is skill.

The luck comes in surving long enough through bad hands!

The again... expect i'm still in fish territory...

as any really good player knows.. what he does is all skill, what everyone else does is just dumb luck !!

unfortunatley, you have to bear the all-in brigade until they're better players, and as most people now learn online - and enjoy the freerolls - there will always be a massive luck element involved. There-in lies the lesson 'don't play freerolls on sites that favour the underdog, on sites that produce massive hands 1/3 of the time, and on sites where there are more than 500 starting players.

That doesn't leave much does it....then play in sit n goes instead (6 handed if pos)

well i think texas holdem is both coz sometimes you ave a shit hand and win but you can ave the best hand and lose i have played poker for 2 years now and it has been luck i think that got me this far but now the luck has gone and it is all down to skill how i play you win some you lose some thats poker
