Thread: AK after the flop

  1. #1

    Default AK after the flop

If you have AK and don't hit the flop (it's a rainbow) do you bet, call or raise if someone else bets, or check waiting for a made hand.

It all depends on position, bets and raises pre-flop, and whether you are the agressor or not. If I have raised pre flop with big flop and dont hit I'll still bet, if I'm on the button and the flop is checked around to me then I will tend to bet as well, but calls and re-raises will more than likely slow me down in my agression.

Default AK, what to do, what to do

You know what dallas, I believe that AK is so hard to play, that usually I just raise allin b4 the flop and either hope that somebody else calls with a weaker ace or hope that every1 folds, and then you dont have to wrry about post flop play!

Depends on the flop, if you connect, then obviously you bet or even raise a bet.

If you don't connect, and the opponent trows out a insane bet, like 5K on a 1K pot, then you must play it as you feel. I recommend folding in early stages, and considering calling in the later stages > tournament and S'n'G advise

    Cash Game - FOLD!

Position is key for me & AK. If I was intial raiser preflop I will make continuation bet & may take down pot right there. If i have position on post flop better I try & use it to my advantage

If u are first to act on the flop and u missed u should most likely Continuation bet unless your opponent is LAG in which case he may raise u with nothing.
in which case u can try check raising, or checkfolding.

if u are after the opponent to act, and he checks first.
u can always just check behind.
it usually gives a strong signal out that u may have hit a set.
which will make it reluctant for ur opponent to bet.
in which case u can do ur continuation bet on the turn, alternatively u may have hit ur A or K on the turn anyways so
