when playing in any mtt the two most important things to influece your desicion is the 2 p's patience and position. If you are not willing to sit for 4 hours and fold 95% of the hands u are dealt then u are better off finding a new hobby. most of the players who are new to the game will call the blinds with almost any hand to try and catch the flop, but even if they catch a piece it can be dangerous. alot of players waste away their chip stach chasing when for example: they call with 24 of hearts and flop comes 35k or something they usually will call, hoping to catch while the other guy is betting their pair of kings. The 5% of the time it comes u will get paid but the other 95% of the time you are just wasting your money. It is the biggest problem among all amateur players. wait for quality hands and u will win bigger pots more often. I hardly ever play less than an aj for the first hour of the tournament

The second thing to consider is position. if i am in early position, especially late in a game i will fold a7 or a similar hand. If i am in late position i will call if there is no raise or possibly throw in a raise myself. you can also use good position to judge how strong someone elses hand might be.

I have used this strategy and it has helped me make many final tables. I hope it can help u too!
