Thread: Aggresive play!!!

  1. #1

    Default Aggresive play!!!

I played a 180 S&G last night and finally took everyone's advice about playing aggresive. Until the first break, I was playing my usual tight game and already down to $1000. After the break I new I had to do something, so I started playing more aggresive, and low and behold I started to make a come back. Then I made some mistakes and went out early. How do you know when to play aggresively and when it's just better to cut your loses and fold?

wow .. if we knew that we would be pro...lol.
i would say be aggresive with good players (they're the ones who will fold).
the worse the player the more they will call.(usually)
also i would say be aggressive when you have a good hand that isn't "the nuts" so you get the drawers out. this also explains why good players are easier to bluff. the average fish will call with any draw no matter what you raise. (call stations)...you have to learn to read your opponents (which is harder online).
    hopefully this is helpfull....

    Default Aggression

Well, I find that aggression for everyone increases the less people remaining at the table. Can anyone tell me how I should deal with a very agressive player that constantly raises to 10X the bb preflop when I have a hand that I would like to play?

    Default aggressive preflop players

    hi

if this one player is consistently raising 10x the BB preflop then you could assume that alot of the time they dont have hands that would warrant a raise of this size

the law of SOD decrees that they have had AA KK QQ 88 99 on every hand but its very unlikely that they have high pocket pairs everytime

thats if you really mean that that have been playing alot of hands and raising them consistently 10x BB

I would definately re-raise back (all-in) with AA or KK

and I would definately call (assuming no-one else has) also with QQ JJ 10 10 and AK suited

you need to get a real feel for it based on what the player has shown about previous hands - they may well play one hand big with junk and then wait for a killer hand to makle the same play

or they may just be a maniac who plays 22 or 33 in early position in the same way as AA or KK

hope thats a help - but if you have a solid strong PP you should not be put off by this sort of play from a consistently over aggressive player

    cheers scrawnybob

    Default Agressiveness

I feel that poker can give you the edge on being agressive at the right times...

I play aggressive if I have to come back from behind or i think i need chips to hold on in a multi-table tournament; if I manage to get a consinstent amount of money, then I start playing only the very best hands I get (AA,KK,QQ,JJ,TT,AK,AQ,AJ,ATsuited) by raising pre-flop
