    Default limit holdem cash games

    Limit holdem cash games are what I prefer to play. Problem is I don't do very well. What are the best strategies? How does playing cash games differ from tournament play? I play lower limit games, trying to build a bankroll.

    Default play tighter

    When you play limit cash games, especially low limit games you will tend to find more ppl who are willing to make calls they normally would not because they know to chase a flush it is only going to cost them so much money rather than lo limit when they can be forced to decide whether to risk there whole bankroll or not before even seeing the turn. i would suggest playing tighter and more premium hands to build up your bankroll and not be afraid to call a set amount to chase the nuts.

    Totally agree -- Premium hands, and check-raise often. It can seem impossible to get some people off ANY hand at times... nothing worse than the guy hitting his 74off two pair on the river and beating your KK;

    Once you get a decent bank-roll, try going to the no-limit/spread game. We [State of WA] have 3/5-500 spread [max bet is 500], which with 3 raises can pretty much be No-limit;

    I've found anything lower than 10/20 limit is just like slots... imagine 5 people pressing the "call" button to every raise -- and why not, it's profitable most times.

    Once you get to NL, you'll wonder how/why you ever played limit [at lower levels]

    normally?

    Man these no-limit online hold'em tourneys have twisted things around.

    How you play a limit game can not be really said without seeing the table action.

    Every table is different.

    That said, its really a limit cash game where pot odds matter. If you are the big blind - with 27o - and the guy to your left opens with a raise, and its a family pot of calls around .... call the damn thing with your rags. Then toss them when two pair, or trips doesnt hit.

    Dont get excited about a flop a of J95 rainbow holding J8 ... you can't bet enough to chase that guy holding KQs that can still hit over you, backdoor flush ya, or hit his gutshot.

    If you are an early better - with a good hand ... check it. Don't hang yourself... see more cards, get an idea of what others might be holding. Most low limit online poker players are bad - and they will tell you what they have by their bets.

    If you are at a table with one or more people that raises every single time its their action. Fold, close the window, go to another table.
